Father Poem

Dad Committed Suicide Poem

Hi, my name is Ashley and I recently lost my Dad on Memorial Day., May 26, 2008. He was 39. He has 3 grandsons who loved him very much. He committed suicide, which seemed a little strange considering the fact that my Aunt was coming from Eastern Shore the very next day to help him get his life together. Now that he's gone we all have to try to get OUR lives together. I love you Dad and you will always be missed!

If You Could Only Hear

If You Could Only Hear
Hey Pop Pop, hey it's me...
I would say this if I could only speak.
But I know if you could hear,
my gibberish would turn to words as they float to your loving ears.
You would hear them say I love you in so many ways.

So tell me Pop Pop,
the name you so longed to hear,
please tell me you'll be close and always be near.

If you could hear,
I'd tell you I miss you
and Mommy does too
and I'd tell you how great it was to have met you.

If you could hear,
I'd tell you I'll see you again one day,
but I don't worry because I know you'll be watching over me all along the way.

If you could hear,
I'd tell you Mommy wishes you could come back
but I know your up there to stay.
But as I get older I'll have dreams of you and we'll finally get to play.

This is what I would say if only you hear.

I know the heartache you feel my dad committed suicide two years ago. I am 25 but have always been a daddy's girl. Its a very hard thing to handle people say it gets better. I am still just as shaken up and heart broken as the day I got the call he was gone. My daughter cries for him and she's only 8 what do you say?? Anyway sorry to go on and on but I wanted you to know you are not alone. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Ashley,
Hello there. My name is Ashley as well and I also lossed my dad to suicide, but I was just six months old when it happened, but even though I never knew him or met him....I still longed for him and hurt so bad, and just wanted a daddy in my life. I have finally been able to come to my senses and grips with the situation that I needed to let go of all this hurt and pain cuz if I didn't it was just going to rule my life and I didn't want that.
Just know that you are not alone and that I can relate to your situation very well!!!! I have gone through it too and I know it is never easy. Most people don't know what to say in a situation like this but that's ok b/c they don't and won't know what to say till they have gone through what we have gone through. I would really like to talk to you more about this if that's ok. I'm very sorry for your loss Ashley

Dear Ashley,
like yourself I lost my daddy via suicide, I suppose that's why I find it so hard to deal with because he chose to leave me.
Your poem is extremely touching and I'm sure your dad is so proud of you
Its hard babe we will never know to the full extent as to why they took their own lives, which is why suicide is such a cruel thing because its us left behind racking our brains.
I hope you learn to deal with your loss, try not to let it rule your life like it did mine xx

I am really sorry for you... I lost my dad 4 years ago the 20th august 2008 and I was only 13 years old... it took me months to live again, each time I laughed used to tell myself, "how can you laugh when your dad passed away?" but with time I realize that I should continue to live that dad wouldn't be happy to see me sad. I still miss him, he IS the man of my life but I have to be strong because mum needs me...
