Teen Crush Poem

Wishing My Crush Liked Me

I have a crush on a guy, and I fell in his arms the other day, but I don't think he likes me because I'm fat and ugly and I have fake hair...he is white and I'm black.

Wishing If

If only I can fall
Into your arms again.
If only I were small,
As small as little drops of rain.

Maybe if I were pretty,
As pretty as those other girls,
Maybe I'm just plain shitty
With nothing but fake extension curls.

He's the beauty and I'm the beast.
Only slight twist is we don't fall in love.

To all those other skinny girls
Of whom I don't compare,
I'm so fat that my belly hurls,
Yet nobody really cares.

But if only I could be like them
I just might get a chance
To be with this marvelous gem
And even get a dance.

I felt every word of this poem. As an African American teenager who isn't technically overweight but not skinny and wears extensions, I know the way you felt at the time of writing this poem. This scenario is not foreign to me. I was able to get through it, though I never went out with the white boy I had a crush on. You have to know that you ARE beautiful. Don't spend time comparing yourself to others, and don't spend time with people who do. Everyone has their own unique bodies, and at this point in our lives things are imbalanced. Some people might say I am fat, but for my health and mental well-being I am the PERFECT size. No people have the exact same DNA, so please know that you are the PERFECT size for you! I am wearing fake hair right now and I do because I like it. Don't stop enjoying your hair just because you noticed someone else's. I hope you feel beautiful and happy inside now. Then you will write a poem out of happiness, which will be a thousand times greater than this one.

I like this boy a lot, but I don't think he likes me at all. In fact, I know he doesn't like me. I was talking to my BFF and she said he liked Cindel. I felt broken. I stopped talking for a while. I thought of confessing, but I'm too scared to do it even in a note or email. I'm a wimp, I know, but what do I do?

Wow!!!! This poem really touched me! As you, I too am black. Not African American though, pure African. I know how you feel and sweetie your words are enchanting. I may not have met you or seen you but you are incredibly beautiful. Don't EVER let your weight and color determine your beauty. Love yourself first and your skin. BLACK IS BEAUTIFULL!!! I promise you if you let him see who YOU really are, he will immediately fall in love with YOU, for YOU!!! Stay strong and beautiful!
