4 Encouraging Poems About Believing In Yourself

  1. 1. Life Is Now

I wrote this poem with thoughts of my friend and family members who are currently going through some hardships in life. When they feel like giving up, I give them reasons to hold on. When they think so little of themselves, I help boost their esteem. I think that this poem is uplifting and motivational and may even be words someone else needs to hear.

    in Inspirational Poems

    Time flies and memories fade.
People change and new friendships are made.
Only the true remain forever at our side.
Eventually the disappointment and pain will subside.

It is all about the journey and what has yet to come.
Life is what you make of it; you are what you've become.
Life is too short to hold onto regrets.
Forgiveness is key even though you may never forget.

Cherish the good and remove the bad.
Some people don't realize till it's gone what they've had.
Moving on is a way of life.
There will always be obstacles, pain, and strife.

You must believe that you are strong enough to fight.
You have to believe in yourself to do what is right.
Always do for YOU no matter what you do,
Because in the end the only one who has your back is you.

Never be afraid to take a stand,
And always be willing to lend a helping hand.
A little bit goes a long way.
All it takes is a smile to brighten someone's day.

Your chance to live is now, so what are you waiting for?
The world is yours for the taking and so much more.
Endless possibilities are forever at your disposal.
The chance to live another day is life's golden proposal.

Never let anyone tear you down,
And never let anyone steal your shine and make you frown.
So will you sit in the shadows and let darkness win again?
Or will you rise up and make the light your friend?

Here is your chance, so what will you do?
You've got this because I believe in you!

  2. 2. O Fear

    • By Anisha Joseph
    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2019 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem to encourage others and to share that we should always believe in ourselves. We should be brave enough to overcome all fears in our lives.

    in Fear Poems

    You made me run away
from those who loved me anyway.
You pushed me down into the vanity,
    blindfolded me from every reality.

    I thought I wasn't good enough.
You made my existence so tough.
O fear, now I realize, it was all a bluff,
and you have already played enough.

    I lost many opportunities,
and now that I am sure of my priorities,
I believe I will break through
as life always gives a next chance to you.

Remember to rise up, and it's okay to fall.
This world around you can't define you at all.
    Be courageous, have an ambition.
Be ready to go beyond every limitation.

    Building a wall of fear
will keep you in the dark forever,
    keeping you unaware of
    what you are capable of.

  5. 4. Beauty

    • By Germaine Nyiramana
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2015 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem thinking about how girls always have a hard time accepting themselves and feeling great in their bodies because of all those images from social media. We always look for ways to make ourselves look better or meet a certain beauty standard. Sometimes it's the way we cope with the pain and all. I just wanted to say that we should all believe in ourselves because we are all beautiful and capable; there's no need to uphold someone else's standard.

    in Bullying Poems

    Dry those tears, baby girl
Stop making scars on your wrist
It does not help to starve yourself
You don't change by caking your face

    They see what they want
But I see who you are
    The grace in your strength
    Beauty in your perseverance

I know you heard those words before
And you tell yourself you're used to it
But every time they pierce like a knife
Twisting deeper into the wounds of your heart

I miss that laugh of yours
    That sounds like chiming bells
You're not just your looks, you know
You're so much more than they let you hear

So every night you lay down
    Replaying every moment, every second
Thinking of how it could have gone better
Crying your heart out, beating yourself up

    Don't let the insecurities
That piled up for so long
    Take away your freedom
You can be who you want, baby girl

Guess what, baby girl, you're beautiful
And I don't say that just 'cause
You don't need to be like anybody
    Because you're not just anybody

I think the reason you're still here
Is because you know those are just lies
    Don't let them constrain you
    Nobody owns you, baby girl

Don't let them get to your head
    And kill your beating heart
    Leaving you an empty shell
Of a girl you used to be

Next time you look in the mirror
Don't just skim on the surface
    I want you to SEE
    And believe in yourself
