Poems On Enduring Friendships

Forever is a very long time. How is it that people can talk so casually about a concept that we cannot even wrap our minds around? Sometimes we have a friend and we sense that our souls are very closely connected. We know that the connection is above time and space. We know that wherever we are in our lives we will always remain friends. Even if we do not see each other for years we are able to pick up right where we left off. This is what people mean when they say friends forever.

12 Poems On Enduring Friendships

  1. 1. The Whispering Winds

    • By Kris Rights
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2007 with permission of the Author.

The joy of a friendship winding on and on seemingly lasting forever.

    in Life Long Friend Poems

Like the wind whispering through the trees,
    Your spirit lifts me,
    Teaching me valuable lessons.
I wait patiently to grow in the light of your eyes,
    Seeking approval, knowing
There's comfort in your silent embrace,
And I listen carefully to what it offers.
I feel the joy in your laughter and trusting eyes
And learn to give of myself, for no judgment is passed.
When sadness fills my heart with disappointment
And I need protection from the storm,
It is only then I realize the depth of friendship
    Sewn together with unbreakable thread.
I understand that the fabric only gets better with age,
That it should be handled with care,
And sometimes it has to rain.
I have discovered my own beauty
By lessons learned while discovering yours.
Like a beautiful sky after the storm,
Your courage to break free of the clouds
    Still amazes me.
I close my eyes to feel the warmth of the sun.
Such a precious gift you've given,
Appreciating the gentleness and I sigh with thankfulness,
    Recognizing my fortune.
A sisterly bond that knows only
    Love that is unconditional.
    Nurturing with grace and acceptance.
    How lucky
To share a piece of my life with a soul that so perfectly fits mine.
    A puzzle with missing pieces
    Now complete.
How sad for those who are still searching.
    My blessings are abundant,
And I thank God for the whispering winds,
For they remind me every day
To celebrate the gift of our friendship and to hold it close,
    To never let it go.

    • By Janilyn B. Rentillo
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2009 with permission of the Author.

I write this poem for my friends during our graduation day in high school.

    in Goodbye Friend Poems

True friends are hard to find,
but there you are; you came into my life.
You came to me in a perfect time.
I'm so happy you're a friend of mine.

We've been together for so long,
in a fantastic place where we belong.
We shared the mysteries of our life.
Laughter and tears are seen in our eyes.

You're with me and I'm with you.
You comfort me and I LOVE YOU.
A part of me becomes part of you.
True friendship I've found in you.

    Now it's time to say goodbye;
tears of sadness keep falling in my eyes.
So please don't cry, my darling friend,
'Cause our friendship will never end.

Yes, it's true, we'll be apart,
'Cause I'm here and you there.
With you, my friend, I want to tell,
whatever happens, we'll be FRIENDS FOREVER!

  4. 3. Promise To Stay In Touch

    • By Louise
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2010 with permission of the Author.

I have a few very special friends and wanted to give them something. I wrote a poem for them all on friendship.
Dedicated to Louise, Sarah, Emma, Sorell, Amy and Kim xx

    in Goodbye Friend Poems

I couldn't find the right words
    Nothing seemed to rhyme
To write something for you all
I think it will take time

    Because when you have friends
That are very hard to find,
    There's so much to say
Because you make everything all right.

So I will tell you right now
Exactly what I need to say
To show you how much I appreciate
    You being there every day.

    You're worth more than anyone,
    Even a million pounds
Because you always know what to say
    When I am feeling down.

You make me smile big smiles
And my days so very bright,
And when I lose my way,
You find me in the night.

I sometimes wish I could explain
How much you mean to me,
    But it's just not possible
    To list a billion things.

So I just wanted to say
I love you so, so much,
And I hope you never leave me.
    Promise to stay in touch.

    • By Joydip Dutt
    • Published by Family Friend Poems May 27, 2022 with permission of the Author.

This poem is for a very close friend of mine. We share a great rapport.

    in Life Long Friend Poems

Dear friend, on your birthday, I have a message for you:
Always remember, friends like you are rare and actually few.

You are amazingly sweet and so much fun.
Believe me, I can compare you with no one.

We have known each other for so many years.
We have gone through our share of laughter and tears.

We sometimes have arguments and differences of opinions,
Still we have been there for each other like true companions.

Our friendship has stood time's long enough test,
And I wish you always the very best.

Just remember, you are special to me every single day.
Don't ever change, please stay forever this way!

  7. 5. With You

There is always a limit to what an individual can do...why humans are said to be weak creatures...alone you'll feel nothing but insecurity. That's why people are always connected to one another. Reach out your hand, and they will always be there. That is how we have formed stronger and firmer bonds.
To the keepers of my sanity: Nipseey Candelario, Marlon Canlas, Victor Michael Castillo and John Edward Cervales.

    in Inspirational Friend Poems

    No matter what sadness,
I want to overcome it with you.
    No matter what race,
I want to run with you.
    No matter how bad,
I want to work this out with you.
    No matter what loss,
I want to hope with you.
    No matter what consequences,
I want to stay with you.
    No matter what fight,
I want to win with you.
    No matter what dreams,
I want to share it with you.
    No matter what happiness,
I want to smile with you.
No matter what the future brings,
I want to see it with you.
I wonder why it cannot be with anyone...but you.

  8. 6. Take My Hand And Never Let Go

    • By Gianna Nicole
    • Published by Family Friend Poems November 2010 with permission of the Author.

This person means the world to me! She's a close friend who knows all there is about me! She isn't judgmental, she isn't mean; she simply understands and is there to help everyone through everything. I wrote this poem to thank her for all she does, but this isn't even close to summing it all up! I, along with many others, look up to her highly and are grateful for her friendship!! :)
She truly is a blessing! Dedicated to: K.J.

    in Faith Poems

You took my hand and showed me the way
when I was blinded by unfortunate fate.
You took my hand and prayed with me
while my troubles quickly faded away.
You took my hand and dried my tears
when I cried over it all.
You took my hand and helped me understand
when I questioned our Almighty One.
You took my hand and made me promise
    I'd never walk alone again.
You took my hand and mended my friendship
when I was too stubborn to say anything.
You took my hand and made me laugh
when we remembered our funny mistakes.
You took my hand and made me see
that God has a special plan for me.
Now take my hand and never let go,
because our friendship means more than you'll ever know!!

  9. 7. For A Best Friend

    • By Tinynisha A. Bush
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2007 with permission of the Author.

The strongest kind of friendship is when you know that even the biggest fight has no chance to ever break you up.

    in Life Long Friend Poems

    Through tears and fights,
    Through smiles, I knew everything
    Would be all right.
    Through love and hate,
    Through betrayal and debate,
For you I would always have faith.
Being your sister as well as your
    Best friend, I knew
    This friendship wouldn't end.
By your side I would always stand,
And you'll stand by mine too
Because that's what best friends do.
So no matter what happens with us
    In life,
    Through all of the wrongs
    And all of the rights,
I'm here for you to be a best friend; that's true,
'Cause I love you and that's what
    Best friends do.

  11. 9. A Poem For My Friend

    • By Tooba I.
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2015 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem for a friend I've known since childhood. We've both been separated by distance and never see each other anymore but still keep in touch. She was going through heartbreak and depression, so I wrote this poem for her to remind her that no matter what happens in life, I'll always be there for her, even if we can't see each other.

    in Life Long Friend Poems

Staring into the horizon at the light of dawn,
Truly fate is what we both stumbled upon,

That memorable day playing at the park,
Who would imagine that it'd be the start?

The start of something that would last forever,
A friendship bond? No, something better!

A savior who would help in escape,
A trustee to keep every secret safe

A guardian to rely on when fears escalated,
A song we could sing to when times were elated

A shoulder to cry on when it snowed in September,
Memories to laugh at that we'd always remember.

You're all that I wanted when wishes were rare.
You're all that I needed when nobody cared.

Tears don't belong in those gold honey eyes,
An angel so beautiful deserves never to cry.

I'm always here with words kissed with love,
So spread your wings and fly like a dove.

Don't care about those who don't think you're worth it.
To me, you could never be any more perfect.

I know when it rains things won't always be sunshine,
So come under my umbrella and together we'll survive.

Just always remember to be patient and pray,
"Tomorrow will be different," as you'd always say.

For you, there's nothing that I wouldn't do.
My heart's not that big yet, but I'll give you that too.

To be your friend is what I am honored to be.
To be your sister is what I'm meant to be.

So now you should know as we've reached an end,
To me you'll always be more than a friend.

A best friend forever is forever and always. They will be there to share your pain and joy until your dying day and beyond.

    in Short Friendship Poems

    I'll stand by your side
    Help fight all your fights
    And never leave you alone
    And when you cry
I'll get a cup and let you fill it up
And dump it in the ocean
And we can sit and watch as your pain floats away
And when you are happy I'll capture it in a glass and when you are blue I'll pull it out and show you
And when you are old and dying I'll be by your side crying
    And when you're gone
    I'll close your eyes
    And whisper to you
See you on the other side
