  1. Happy Birthday, Far Away Friend

    • By Edarly Edouard
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

This poem is about a friend I've spent so much time with ever since we were born. We went to so many places together, but that stopped when her parents had an argument with members in our church. Because of that, we won't be able to see each other anymore. When she left, I had a really hard time living without her, because she was the person I spent most of my time with. I miss her so much, and I know she feels the same way about me, so I dedicate this poem to her.

    in Birthday Poems

Dear friend, I want to wish you a splendid happy birthday.
We don't see each other anymore, but I hope everything is okay.
You're growing to become the intelligent woman I know you can be.
I'm so fortunate to have a friend like you who's gentle, loving, and sweet.

  2. Happy Birthday To The Queen Of Our Hearts

My mother raised 5 of us kids almost on her own. Our father was an alcoholic and she struggled to raise us. We didn't realize what a difficult time she had until we were older and had children of our own. I wrote this on her 80th birthday to honor her dedication to us.

  4. Birthday Wishes To My Son In Heaven

I wrote this poem for my son who died in 2010. I wrote it for his first birthday in heaven, as I could not allow his special day to go unnoticed. I needed to make sure he was not forgotten by others outside our small family, and by writing it, it made me feel closer to him...

That wish would have to be

To be blessed with a child is a great event for any mother. We are all reminded of this blessed occasion every year with a birthday celebration.

for this little life He's given to me.
    Without His gift of love,

My dad passed away last year, but I still wanted to acknowledge his birthday. We will forever miss his presence on this earth, but we also know someday we will celebrate together for eternity.

  8. Love And Hugs

I began writing poetry in middle age. For about 5 years I lived aboard a yacht in remote areas of Australia, mostly in the Torres Strait. We had intermittent TV and radio signal depending on the anchorage, and I began writing poems for family and friends for special occasions. My poems are generally comic and whimsical in tone and inspired by actual events.

My daughter died 5 years ago, but it is like it happened yesterday. I sat with her holding her hand as she died. This is a poem I wrote for her 25th birthday.

    in In Memory Poems

You walk beside me every day.
You're here in all I do and say.
At night I close my eyes and pray
To someone who took you away.

I once missed my cousin Julie's birthday. It wasn't until the last minute I remembered, but the only card I had didn't have a verse, so I had to write my own. She loved it.

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday.

  11. Happy Birthday, Super Star Sister

    • By Beryl L Edmonds
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019 with permission of the Author.

This birthday greeting poem is for the youngest of our family of five sisters. In spite of having her ups and downs (as we all do), she has been a joy from day one, always happy and never has a bad word for anyone. The poem is written in lines of ten syllables, with four rhyming quatrain stanzas, and ending with a rhyming couplet.

    in Birthday Poems

From the day you were born I've watched you grow
Into the nicest person one could know.
Love changes everything, words oh so true.
My world changed the moment I first held you.
