Grief On Father's Day
Published: May 28, 2021
Father’s Day is a day to celebrate fathers and their influence in the lives of their children. But for many, Father’s Day becomes a difficult holiday after you’ve lost your dad. You wish you had more time with him, more time to learn from him, more time to love him. You’re not alone. Many other people also grieve the absence of their fathers.
14 Missing Dad On Father's Day Poems
1. My DadPoem For Dad In Heaven
I know this man
Who is dear to my heart.
Suddenly one day
It was torn all apart.
This man taught me everything
That I needed to know,
But I never really listened
Until he had to go.
He gave me love
And touched my life.
It's all over now;
He no longer has to fight.
He tried to teach me
Right from wrong.
The day he left
I wasn't that strong.
He is gone now,
It is hard to believe.
This man is my dad
Whom I will never see.
But I will see him again,
This I know.
The day will come
When it's time for me to go.
So, I'll hold him dear
And close to my heart
'Cause the day we meet
I know we'll never be torn apart.Latest Shared Story

Poem About Losing A Father
We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that, too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.Latest Shared Story

Poem About Love For A Deceased Father
I love you and I miss you, Dad,
and though you've passed away,
you'll never be forgotten,
for I think of you each day.
If heaven celebrates this day
how special it will be.
A gathering of the many dads
upon our family tree.
Your father and grandfather
and great grandfather too.
How wonderful it is, if they
can spend this day with you.
May you know how much I love you,
though I'm here and you are there.

Missing My Dad
Three months have passed.
I'll never forget the day
Someone rang to tell me
That you'd gone away.
The hurt is the same,
Like an open wound.
There are days
I don't utter a sound.
Some days the pain is stronger.
It makes me sick and weak.
I can't stand this much longer.
I just sit here and weep.
I've shut my private door
And let no one in,
Locking myself in a box.
They try, but I won't give in.
You were like a rock,
Strong, faithful and true.
What worth has my life
Now that I don't have you?
I was your first born,
Daddy's little girl.
I took my own path
But was still part of your world.
I was not the best,
Guilty of neglect,
But you know, Daddy dearest,
I had so much respect.
I always loved you,
My dad, my star.
Now my pain is
To worship you from afar.
I love you now
As I did back then.
I just hope... one day
I will see you again.
I am so proud of you,
Brave and strong to the end.
Now when asked, "How are you?"
There is no need to pretend.
We all love and miss you so much; sleep well,
and take care of all who went before you.

Father's Day In Heaven
If time exists in heaven,
Do you still rise with the sun?
Do you and Mom share breakfast
Before your day has begun?
Can the heavens hear your laughter
As you sit and reminisce
About the time we had together
And other people that you miss?
And Daddy, do you still take walks
Along heaven's seas?
And when you gaze upon the surf,
Do you remember walks with me?
Are your standing with those brave young men
Upon its perfect shores?
Finally by their sides again,
Your comrades from the war.
Do you gather with your family
Beneath heaven's glow?
And gaze upon those mountains still
That once you called your home.
Is music all around you,
All those songs you held so dear?
Do you and Mom still sing together,
The way you did when you were here?
Do you ever have long talks with God
About those left behind?
Do you tell him all the stories
Of all our grand and treasured times?
I think that heaven must be grateful
To have you there each day,
To bring your easy laughter
And your silly sense of play.
And I'm sure that God already knows
The special father you had been
And how I wish that you were here
To guide my way again.
But I carry you inside my heart.
You are never far from me.
I see you in my smile
And in who I grew to be.
And I'm sure that on this Father's Day
God will help you celebrate
All those dads who changed the world with love.

6. My Angel
I wake up in the morning
And I look up to the sky
I wonder why he took you
before I said goodbye
I look up to the stars at night
And know you're looking down
I'd like to think you're proud of me
But I'm just stumbling round
I crawl in bed and close my eyes
And realize that you're gone
Then comes the fears and then the tears
And life just seems so wrong
I glance up at the heavens
And I know you're flying by
My angel's watching over me
I'm happy as I cryLatest Shared Story

7. I MissMissing My Parents
I miss your face; I miss your smile.
I wish I could see you once in a while.
I miss your laugh; I miss your love.

Guiding me in life and having you near.
I miss you, Mum; I miss you, Dad,
Forever in my heart with the memories we had.
Poem About The Anniversary Of Dad's Death
You have been gone one whole year and nothing is the same.
It seems like it was just yesterday that the angels called your name.
Every morning when I wake up, I think it was just a nightmare,
But when I go to look for you, I realize you're not here.
My memories of you will never fade, and you are always on my mind.
I wish that there was such a way for the years to just rewind.
I wish I could see you and hear your voice once more.
I wish we could talk and laugh like we did before.
It makes me happy to think of all the good times that we had,
But it breaks my heart to know that's all I have left of you, Dad.
I look at pictures, smell your cologne, and listen to your favorite song.
I know that you were sick, but it just seems so wrong.
As I sit here writing this I realize nothing in life is fair,
And there has not been one day that's gone by that I haven't shed a tear.
As my life moves forward without you, I will imagine you always by my side,
And you will always be in my heart...because in there you're still alive.
9. I Miss YouLosing A Loved One
I still miss you
As the weeks and years go by.
I still miss you
Like the clouds would miss the sky.
I still miss you
Like a bird without its wings.
I still miss you
Like a flower without the joys of spring.
I still miss you
As I greet another day.
I still miss the love we shared
And the memories we both made.Latest Shared Story

10. Always With Me7th Year Anniversary Of His Death
I think of you all the time,
Emotions still running on high.
It's been over six years
Since you went into the sky.
A lot has changed in our lives since then,
But with me you still remain.
My own personal beacon of hope,
Guiding me through this game.
My memories of you will never fade,
The good, the bad, I treasure them all.
Wherever I go, there you are,
Standing by me, though not very tall.
And when I go to sleep tonight,
My eyes will flood with tears.
But I know you'll visit me in my dreams
And protect me from my fears.
For today is only another day,
No different from the rest.
You'll still be here with me tomorrow.

11. My Dad
in Grief PoemsA Poem Of Grief For Dad
Do you know how it feels to lose someone?
How you go through grief and pain?
I know how that feels,
and how it feels to always live in rain.
I remember it like it was yesterday,
how I stood by my dad's side.
And how I couldn't bear to look at him,
but all I did was cry.
I knew I couldn't help him,
I couldn't fix his pain.
I couldn't stop myself from crying,
I couldn't help him in any way.
I wanted to help my dad,
but they said it was too late.
How could it have come to this,
to this horrible fate?
My dad was loving,
he was a caring guy.
Maybe he wasn't perfect,
but he didn't cheat, steal or lie.
I loved my dad.
I loved him with all my heart.
But there was nothing I could do.
It was too late from the start.
They said they caught it too late,.
There was nothing they could do
but just let him pass on.
It was hard, but it was true.
It's been almost a year.
It doesn't feel like it's been that long.
And it still hurts,
but he's now where he belongs.
No matter what happens,
he'll always be loved,
until the day I die
and I join him up above.
He's up there somewhere with God.
He's in his rightful place.
And even though I want him back,
it's a tragedy I have to face.
Sometimes at night
I cry myself to sleep.
But through the year of darkness,
the depression I'll have to defeat.
is what keeps me hanging on.
Love is a strong word,
Because it's kept me alive this long.
But there is one more thing
that I have to say.
My dad's love will go on and on,
and he's in my heart to stay.Latest Shared Story

Another year has come,
and you're still so far away.
You're always in my heart
each and every day.
I still cannot believe you're gone.
I hurt so deep inside.
I cry a tear day after day,
Wishing you were by my side.
I never got to say goodbye.
Why did you have to go?
You left without me telling you
How much I love you so.
I will never forget you, Dad.

And leave my heart so blue?

13. Missing You
in Grief Poems
I sit and think of you; then I start to cry.
I miss you so much; why did you have to die?
The only thing that I can hear is a deep scream inside my ear.
My head is pounding so much nowadays.
Why did he take you away?
The biggest thing that I can say is I'm missing you every day.

The night is dark and the fire sparks.

I'm able to say, "Why didn't you stay every day?"Latest Shared Story

in Grief PoemsPoem About Missing My Dad
It's been three years since you left us, and I still miss you so
I wish I could have held you tight so you didn't have to go
But that would have been so selfish, as you were in such pain
But I know that when my time comes I will see you once again
We never spoke of how we felt, but I hope you always knew
How proud I was to call you dad, and how much I loved you
They tell me whilst I still walk the earth, you will still be here
I remind people so much of you, and they're words I love to hear
If I could have just one more day with you to tell you
All the things I never did, and for now I cannot do
So till we meet again, dear Dad, I'll keep you in my heart
And when we meet up once again we will never have to part
