  5. My Best And Favorite Girl

    • By Ronald Doe
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2008 with permission of the Author.

My mother took care of my sister Kelly (who was paralyzed in a diving accident at age 16) for twenty-five years. The doctor did not expect my Kelly to live for 6 months. When she died, the doctor called my mother and said, "I didn't think Kelly would live 6 months, there is no doubt in my mind that she lived for twenty-five years because of your unselfish and unconditional for her." This is why my mom will always be "My Best And Favorite Girl."

    in Mother Poems

My first bike and baseball glove.
You filled my heart with joy,
And you filled my life with love.

Very good usage of words. Rhyming pattern is good and the structure rocks. One of the best I've read so far. Keep on writing more!

  11. My Mom

    • By Terry W. Kraemer
    • Published by Family Friend Poems May 2016 with permission of the Author.

My mom raised my sister and me virtually on her own because my father was rarely there to help. We lost my sister and her two children back in 2004, and neither my mom nor I have ever been the same. Losing a sister, niece and nephew was devastating, but I cannot imagine losing a daughter and two grandchildren. Now I'm all that she has. She has been there for me through good times and the bad. I can't thank her enough, so this poem is dedicated to my mother, Stella. I love you, Ma.

    in Mother Poems

I will always need my mom,
    regardless of my age.
She's made me laugh, made me cry.
    Her love will never fade.

I wrote this poem in an advanced writing class my senior year in high school. I wrote it for my mother as I am the oldest child and was about to leave the nest for college. I had it printed up and framed it along with a picture of her and me, and gave it to her for Mother's Day. She LOVED it!
