Mother's Day Poems From Children

Mother's Day Poems From Children

The bond a mother shares with her child is unlike any other relationship. In many cases, a mother is the one to provide the majority of the early care to her children. In the younger years, she is the one with them more than any other person, creating an irreplaceable bond. These touching Mother's Day Poems are perfect for young children to share with their mothers on Mother's Day to say thank you for all she does.

Betrayed Friend Poems

Betrayed Friend Poems

"Et tu Brute, then fall Caesar". Perhaps the most famous words in English literature speak of a betrayal of a friend. Julius Caesar is saying that if even his close friend Brutus is stabbing him, then he has no hope. Our friends are the ones that we expect will stand by us through thick and thin. When are going through hard times, we ask that they be "like a bridge over troubled waters". If we cannot count on our friends to pull us through, then who can we count on?

Explore betrayal in friendships through our collection of powerful poems. These poems write about the emotions and feelings of betrayed friends as they try to go forward and heal after betrayal.

Forever Friend Poems

Forever Friend Poems

Forever is a very long time. How is it that people can talk so casually about a concept that we cannot even wrap our minds around? Sometimes we have a friend and we sense that our souls are very closely connected. We know that the connection is above time and space. We know that wherever we are in our lives we will always remain friends. Even if we do not see each other for years we are able to pick up right where we left off. This is what people mean when they say friends forever.

Funeral Poems For Friends

Funeral Poems For Friends

There are many traditions from around the world that determine what a funeral looks like. In some cultures the body is cremated and the ashes may be kept in an urn. In other cultures, the body is put into the ground itself without a coffin. Some traditions have people who are designated wailers who are there to help people cry. Eulogies may be said in honor of the departed. What these cultures all have in common is the desire to mark the importance of the individual's life and to mourn for the loss of the departed.

Looking for the perfect words to honor a dear friend who has passed away? Our collection of memorial poems includes poems for eulogies, speeches, and tributes. From short poems for funerals to longer, more personal tributes, you'll find the perfect poem to express your love and grief. Use these poems to help you say goodbye to a dear friend who will be greatly missed."

Waiting Poems - On The Difficulty Of Waiting

Waiting Poems

Waiting Poems

One famous historical book says, "expectation postponed is making the heart sick". Those wise words have proven true time and again for many. Many people wait their whole lives for things that are difficult to come across, like true love or exceptional secular opportunities.

Unfortunately, some things, like finding a soulmate, do not necessarily happen when one would like. Often, the wait can become frustrating, causing sadness, anger and other negative feelings.

One way to combat such feelings is to read the poetry of others who have experienced similar emotions.

She is an integral part of her family, but Mother’s Day can be a difficult holiday for many people who’ve lost their moms. It’s a reminder of the void that has been left after her passing. It can be a holiday that’s filled with a lot of grief because you wish you had more time to spend with her.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month - October

Domestic Violence Awareness Month - October

Domestic violence is more prevalent than many realize. People on the outside might not always see it, but far too many people live a nightmare with an abusive spouse or significant other. People are living in fear of the person who is supposed to love them. They are living through situations that bring harm to them physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and it’s a chance to educate the public about this terrible reality. If you are in an abusive relationship, there is hope for you. You are strong, and you are worth so much more than your current situation. There are people who long to help you. We encourage you to reach out to someone you trust or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233). Someone is waiting to talk to you and help you take the next step to break free from an abusive relationship. We hope that by reading the stories of these poets, you see that you are not alone.
