    • By Robert B. Wolfe
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2016 with permission of the Author.

This is about my first love that I gave up when I went into the service. I never stopped loving her.

    in Hurting Poems

As I sit and ponder the day away.
I remember the young love I gave away.
I searched for a love like I left behind,
Too young to realize she was one of a kind.

  5. Precious Memories

    • By Alora M. Knight
    • Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015 with permission of the Author.

This is not a lost love between two adults; it is the heartache of losing the loving presence of two beloved grandchildren due to the bitter divorce of my son and his wife. For twenty years there had been utter devotion. The blessing now is that they are now happy in their own life and I have my memories.

    in Divorce Poems

I will take those precious memories
And frame them with my love,
Then hang them in the hallways of my heart.
    I hope the fond remembrance

    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2015 with permission of the Author.

This poem is about me and my struggles to let him go. It's been about two years now, and I still can't get myself to let him go. I hope this poem helps someone else who's going through what I am.

    in Hurting Poems

The day you said it's over was the day that I died.
When it became dark, I laid down and cried,
Going over and over in my head on what to do.
I could never find the courage to let you be you.

  8. The Pain Inside

    • By Robert Vincent
    • Published by Family Friend Poems November 2015 with permission of the Author.

This is a story about a girl I met and kept running into until I asked her out. We had a great night doing nothing in particular, just looking at the stars. It was one of the best nights, and nothing came of it.

    in Hurting Poems

I saw the stars that shine
When I looked into your eyes.
    I felt the pain inside
When your head was next to mine.

I have loved him since I saw him. I loved him when we had nothing but each other. Now he loves no part of me. Now part of me is dead, lifeless and depressed because all of me still loves him.

  10. Wait For Me

    • By Sabrina
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009 with permission of the Author.

You know that feeling that you get when you think you love someone? Or when you're falling in love for the very first time? Those are the feelings I got towards this one man. I've liked him since day one. When he finally asked me out my insides turned to lava. I felt like I could fly. Unfortunately, it was the wrong time for us. We were both way too busy with our own lives. So no matter how much it hurt me, I had to end it. To this day, we are still very good friends, and not a day goes by that I don't wish that we were once again together.

    in Heartbreak Poems

I know so little about you,
But I'm falling in love with you.
I have been since the day we met.
    When your eyes met mine

  15. 700 Miles From My Heart

    • By Sirenity K. Ball
    • Published by Family Friend Poems September 2018 with permission of the Author.

Distance is only a number, but love is infinite. Sadness is only a moment, but love is a lifetime. I tell myself that a lot. I met a guy, and we had great chemistry. We understood each other and got along instantly, but I had to go away, and my heart shattered quickly. He hugged me goodbye and he was burned into my memory.

    in Hurting Poems

In my dreams you're right by me
Sleeping through the night beside me,
And when I wake up and it's a dream,
I don't have any tears left to comfort me.

This poem is about accepting a fate that was foreseen but all too tragic anyway.

    in Hurting Poems

So awkward in the morning, just a little unsure
A little off your game, but it all felt so pure
We knew from the beginning that this was going to hurt

I'm sure that everyone at one time of another has blown the opportunity to have a lasting romance. Unfortunately, you can never go back and change the mistakes that were made. This poem is about a guy who realized the mistakes that were made and he's paying for them now.

    in Hurting Poems

I'm sure it won't be easy repairing my poor heart.
I've gone about it knowing right from the very start.
I simply can't complete it now and maybe never will.
It's got a part still missing that only she could fill.
