  1. Lost In The Past

    • By Jodi

I was abused as a child, and now as an adult I still struggle with the hurt and never getting an acknowledgment from my abuser. My past keeps me in bondage, and it's up to me to release the hurt and be able to move on.

  2. Can't Accept That You're Gone

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2007, and for 3 years he tried to fight this killer, but the cancer won. I miss him every day, and I write to help me through my pain. This is just a poem I wrote describing how I feel. He has been gone a year and a half now, and even though I was by his side when he died, I still cannot even for a minute believe he is really gone. Love and miss you, Dad. You are my Angel.

  4. If Only I Knew

    • By Sennette Gaoses
    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2014 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this emotional poem when I started thinking about the things regarding my sister Mencia Gawanas that I took for granted. I thought that she'd always be around, so there were all these things that I thought I would always have. I thought she'd always text me, or smile at me, or call me. I thought I would have her in my life forever. Alas, God had a different plan for us. I just wish I knew that I would have her for so little a time, for she was only 20.

  5. Keeping The Promises

    • By Morgan Gregg
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2013 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem from the point of view of a someone who is speaking to their friend, and talking about how throughout their lives they have always managed to stay together. That their friendship was strong enough to make it through the good, the bad, and all the in-between moments they have gone through in their lives, and even though their lives are close to ending, they were, are, and will always be best friends.

    in Life Long Friend Poems

The promise to keep secrets, no matter what they are.

  8. Though All The Fates

    Famous Poem

Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) was an American author, poet, abolitionist, and historian. Ralph Waldo Emerson was Thoreau’s neighbor, mentor, and friend. Both had Transcendental ideas, which was the American version of Romantic Idealism. Transcendentalists believed in focusing on the spiritual instead of material concerns. They believed society had tarnished the purity of an individual. Themes of Transcendentalism can be found in this poem. Though something seems firm and unwavering, you don’t see what is happening below the surface. Staying true to who we are will pay off in the end and keep you from destruction. This poem is made up of rhyming couplets.

    • By Peggy Stewart

I have struggled with anxiety for many years. It is such an awful thing, and for people who don't have any idea what it is like, it is hard for them to understand. They think that you can just pull yourself out of it. One day I was so anxious and overwhelmed by these feelings, and I started to write. This is what came to me. For any of you who struggle with this, you are not alone. I hope that you will somehow learn to overcome it. Unfortunately, I have not, but I will never give up hope.

  12. One More

    • By Maranda G. Brice
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2011 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem for my cousin, Debbie Taylor, who was also my teacher at the Christian School I go to. I miss her so much. It just doesn't seem real that she is gone. I prayed for God to help me with my poetry and this one just came pouring out of me. I just wish I had gotten more time with her. I wanted her to see me graduate, get married, have kids, and become a teacher like her. I just wanted one more everything with her. I guess that is why I titled this poem One More.

This is inspired by the love of my life, my wife of 30 plus years. This month, 33 years ago I got to see this wonderful young lady for the first time. I was not able to meet her or talk with her until the 7th of November that same year of 1975. My Pammy is my life. I dedicate the rest of it to showing her how much I love her.
