  2. Yip-Yip-Woof!

    • By Kristin Frederick
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2011 with permission of the Author.

I was looking through my old poetry book from 6th grade and I found this one. I remember writing it like it was just yesterday. I wrote it because I always wanted a Chihuahua and a Great Dane. It describes what having a Chihuahua would be like and what a Great Dane would be like. They are completely different dogs, and the differences are clearly shown. It shows how each dog acts and thinks about it.

    in Animal Poems for Kids

    Tiny Chihuahua,
    Humongous Great Dane.
    The difference between them
    Is really quite plain.

  7. Bed In Summer

    Famous Poem

Most children have an early bedtime. In the winter it’s not a problem for them to fall asleep, because it gets dark early, but summer makes it difficult. With more daylight, children long to be able to play until the sun dips far below the horizon.

    in Famous Children Poems

In Winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle light.
In Summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.

  12. Peace And Quiet

    • By Nadya Phillips
    • Published by Family Friend Poems November 2014 with permission of the Author.

This is a poem about peace and what it is like to have peace! In 5th grade, my teacher, Ms. Gray, was teaching a lesson on different types of poems. One of our tasks was to write our own poem. I wrote this poem in a way I would think of it, although life would be great just sitting on a porch relaxing.

    in Nature Poems for Kids

    Peace is...
When you are outside on a nice warm day
With a cold glass of yellow lemonade.
    Slurp, slurp, slurp.
