  1. My Memories

    • By Graham Chaplin
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2016 with permission of the Author.

This poem is about the loss of a girl I loved so very much when I was young. Sadly, I let her slip away because I could not believe that I was worthy of her. Now many years later, I feel that I must pay tribute to that love.

    in Hurting Poems

My memories are sacred of the you I used to know.
I remember all the places where you and I would go.

Time has made me older, and life has made me old.

  2. I Hoped

    • By MarcoKirstein
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2018 with permission of the Author.

Throughout life we meet many people. They are people who will become a friend, enemy, someone who will be in your life for a short while, or someone who will mean the world to you. The only problem is sometimes we put them in the wrong category. I met this girl, and it felt like she could be the one, so I put all my effort into making things work, but just like that, she slipped out of my life. I was broken down, and all I have left is hope, hope to meet the right one.

    in Hurting Poems

I hoped you'd be my last,
    but you changed very fast.

    I tried to be strong,

  4. He Is Hurting Too

Sometimes when a guy and a girl break up, most of the concern goes toward the girl. Everyone sees that she is in pain and she's hurt. The purpose of this poem is to point out that everyone in the relationship has been affected. The guy hurts, too. He wants people to see that he is drowning while everyone is throwing her a life rope.

    in Breaking Up Poems

    He's tired of the pain.
    He's tired of every lie.
He's tired of the countless nights
When all he does is cry.

This poem makes an important point. Often we think in a breakup there's only one hurt heart, but in reality, both people could be hurting. But that might mean they should not have ended it.

    • By Robert B. Wolfe

This is about my first love that I gave up when I went into the service. I never stopped loving her.

    in Hurting Poems

As I sit and ponder the day away.
I remember the young love I gave away.
I searched for a love like I left behind,
Too young to realize she was one of a kind.

  7. Missing You

    • By Jaira N. Biel
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2016 with permission of the Author.

Hi, I was a teenager in love when I wrote this. I wrote a lot of poems. It helped get that emotion out. Not everyone we fall in love with is meant to stay. I have 2 kids and a loving boyfriend. I wouldn't change a thing. I'm very blessed, thank the Lord. But the first time I fell in love is always deep within.

I wrote this poem after losing my best friend. Sadly, I fell in love with him, but he loved someone else, and I lost him in the end.

    in Goodbye Love Poems

I'm sorry that I hurt you
    And that I lied.
I'm sorry I can't be the one you want to hold at night.

  12. What Healing Is Meant To Look Like

    • By Blake Auden
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2020 with permission of the Author.

I’ve been holding on to little fragments of you for a long time, because I could never bring myself to let you go all at once.

But deep down, I know I need to let go of these pieces. I can’t move on when I’m living next to these reminders of the people we were - the way we wrapped ourselves in each other. I don’t know what healing is meant to look like, but this feels like a good place to start.

  15. A Triolet Of Heartbreak

Losing someone you love is always heartbreaking, whether it's through death or the end of a relationship. I have chosen to write about it in the form of a triolet.

A triolet is a poem written in a set form consisting of eight lines with a rhyme scheme of only two rhyme endings and certain repeated lines. Specifically ABaAabAB - the capitals signify repeated lines, the other letters signify matching rhyme endings.

    in Loss Poems

Why did you have to go away
and leave me with a broken heart.
I prayed and prayed that you would stay,
why did you have to go away.

    • By Blake Auden
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2021 with permission of the Author.

I can't tell you about healing. But I can tell you about moving forward; about not standing still and hoping the fires behind you don't reach you. Some days there is bravery in just moving your feet, especially when you have no idea where it is you're meant to be going.
