I received a gift from a stranger,
A stranger I did not know.
I had heard his name before,
But just in passing, so I let it go.

I did not think it was a gift,
But rather a terrible burden.
They said it was nothing I wanted.
Of this they were certain.

I was told it was something bad
And more than I could bear.
No one mentioned it was precious.
It was as if they didn't care.

I sent the gift back to the stranger,
Where it came from up above.
If only I had met him sooner,
I would have seen the gift was made with love.

Instead, I treated the gift like it was nothing.
I quickly sent it back.
They told me I did the right thing,
But they left out an important fact.

See, the gift was made just for me by a stranger,
And God was his name.
I had never even noticed him,
Yet he loved me just the same.

He had created that precious gift.
Each piece he made by hand to my surprise,
And yet I didn't even see it.
My life was based on lies.

When I found out what the gift contained
And realized I had thrown it away,
I believed I would always suffer
And be punished every day.

But to my disbelief, that stranger,
Who I had ignored and turned away,
Created three more gifts for me
And sent them all my way.

I begged for his forgiveness.
I prayed and felt his love.
I wondered what had become of the first gift
Sent from above.

I later learned the gift would remain
With our loving God and then
I would meet my baby in heaven
And receive the gift again.

I have no fear that I will not know
Which gift was meant for me.
So many have been thrown away,
But mine I will surely see.

For I have dreamed of my little boy
Whose eyes were big and bright.
I will run right over to him,
And know him at first sight.

I will say, "Mommy loves you!"
I know that is how I'll start.
Then I will thank God for taking care of my baby
While we were so far apart.

If I could just help one person
See their gift contains such love
And that the life inside that little gift
Came from God above,

It would honor my precious baby,
Whose life was lost to a lie.
It would stop the suffering of another child
And a mother who would otherwise be too scared to try.

It's okay to miss you,
It's okay to cry.
Just know I'll never forget you.
This isn't a permanent goodbye.

Sometimes I sit and wonder
If you are standing by my side,
Giving me the courage
To carry on with pride.

I'll hold onto our memories,
Until this life is done.
In my heart is where I'll store them,
Where we can be as one.

She got up this morning,
sun shining through the blind.
She took a look in the mirror,
and something crossed her mind.

You weren't there to see her wake.
She didn't see your smile,
for when she does, she feels like
her days are all worthwhile.

She went into work today,
kids running through the halls.
She looked at plans for tomorrow
and is sad when nobody calls.

She got in her car to go home today.
On the radio she heard a song;
it reminded her of you
and how hurtful it is you're gone.

She went out with a friend tonight,
smiled and wore a brave face,
for all she really wants in life
is to have you in this place.

She gets a daunting feeling,
one that won't disappear.
What's the point in all of this?
What's the point when you're not here?

She went to sleep that night,
tried to prepare for the days ahead.
If she looks real careful,
you're there on your side of the bed.

Stroke her hair and tell her
that no matter what life throws,
you have a love like no other;
in death it continues to grow.

She got up this morning,
sun shining through the blind.
She took a look in the mirror,
and something crossed her mind.

You WERE there to see her wake,
and she could see your smile,
and when she did, she realized
you're only absent for a while.

She closes her eyes and in the dark,
she knows she'll see you again.
The only thing that troubles her
is not being able to say when.

For now, she must be patient,
and one day her time will come,
and you'll be there to take her hand
and safely guide her home.

You never know the extent of a word
Until you use it
You never know the impact of a word
Until you abuse it

You never know what could or couldn't have been
Until you lose it
You'll never live through the good times in between
Because you lost it

Please, when you say goodbye
Make it count for what it's worth
Put some value on the word
It may be the last one ever heard

What I wouldn't give to see his face
Just one last time
He's lying in a better place
So I'll just smile and say it's fine

We never got to share a dance
Or celebrate together
If only we had one last chance
I'd make it last forever

I would show him how good I've done
And how much better I still can do
I'd show him how much he meant to me
And how much I loved him too

I'd thank him for always being there
And sending me all his love
I want to feel him one more time
Give him one last hug

He was the strongest male figure
I ever came across
He wore a smile even though
He knew how much he lost

The word goodbye left my lips
So quickly and so hollow
If only I knew it was forever
I'd tell him only until tomorrow

I'd make sure he kept fighting
Even though he was tired and weak
I'd be there to stop him crying
Whilst sleeping, I'd kiss him on the cheek.

And if it was his last 10 breaths
That he would only ever get
I'd take his hand and tell him
That him I would never forget

Followed by that little word
That makes him know it's time
That little word that makes me cry
I'd tell him, Goodbye Grandfather

Close your eyes and picture beauty.
What is it that you see?
A baby, a mountain, a river?
Or maybe an old oak tree?

There is beauty all around us,
But some of it's hard to find,
Perhaps in the eyes of a weary soul
To which life has not been kind.

Maybe a life so shattered
And their world torn apart.
Hurting and so very alone,
They live with a broken heart.

Look beyond what you see.
Love them for who they are.
Do this, and you will find
Beauty beneath the scars.

I was the young age of three,
and oh, so very small.
I knew almost nothing,
nothing at all.

When I saw a cute little girl
shaking with fear,
all alone in the corner
with her eyes full of tears,

I thought to myself,
I'll go be her friend.
So I went over to her
and touched her sweet little hand.

I said to my new friend,
"Do you want to play?"
My new friend said, "Yes,"
and her tears went away.

It's been fifteen years now,
and our friendship's still strong.
I can hardly believe
we've been best friends this long.

As I went to her that day,
I was the angel to be.
How could I have known
that God sent her to me?

But angels need two wings
if they don't want to sit and just rest,
so God combined both our wings
to show us we're blessed.

We can't thank him enough
for his gift of kindness and love.
We are both each other's angels
sent from heaven above!
