As I wrote this poem, I was looking at a painting of a scene at the beach. The words just flowed through my keyboard, and found themselves on my paper. I'm actually happy with it.

The gulls soar higher than the clouds...

The child crashes to the ground like a rock slide...

The man walks on shells that feel like needles...

The dog is angered by the birds...

The kite flutters like a plane...

What if tears run down my face on the inside?

What if I'm crying out for help on the inside?

You smell the scent I wear every day on the outside,
But that's all you can smell.
What if it smells of death on the inside?

You feel soft, smooth skin on the outside,

You taste sweet lips kissing you on the outside,

We're Together Though We're Apart

He was so proud of his little girl.
It was her very first day of school.
He walked with her to school that day,
And she held his hand all the way.

He was so proud of his little girl.

They walked together quiet and sad,
A little girl and her loving dad.
Into the school her father led,
But he almost cried when she said,
"Daddy, Daddy, please don't go.

He sat up front on her wedding day
