  1. 21. Our Friendship

    • By Rogelio Morados
    • Published by Family Friend Poems September 2016 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem because I love my friends.

    in Best Friend Poems

I met you as a stranger, then took you as my friend.
Our friendship is something that will never end.
When I was in darkness that needed some light,
You came to me and hugged me tight.

You took my hands and dried my tears.
You woke me up to end my fears.
You took my hand and made me see
That God has a special plan for me.

    You helped me laugh
    When I was sad.
    You made me tough
    When I felt bad.

Our friendship made me see the light.
Our friendship showed to me what was right.
I hope our friendship will never bend.
I hope our friendship will never end.

A poem about a mentor who showed her protégé how to live.

    in Thank You Friend Poems

    Thank you for being there,
    for showing me the path.
    Thank you for always caring
and giving it all you have.
    Thank you for not running
    when I needed your help,
and thank you for always caring about my health.
Thank you for always staying by my side
    and giving me the courage
and the pride to do things I've never done before.
    Thank you for giving me
    something to stay alive for.
Thank you for always loving me
and adoring my talents and skills.
Thank you for always being there,
for all of the sad times and the thrills.
Thank you for always telling me
    what's wrong and what's right,
and thank you for helping me on the path to life.

  4. 23. Friendship Is The Best Ship Of All

    • By Valerie M.
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2008 with permission of the Author.

When someone stumbles through life not knowing where to go, their friends are always there for each other. We should never trade friends (and family) for anything.

Valerie M. is eleven years old. She wrote this poem for a Poems and Quotes project for her class. This poem is dedicated to her best friends: Aliya, Viviene, Chris, and Brandon.

    in Friendship Poems by Teens

    Friendship is priceless
    And can never be forgotten.
    Friendship is timeless
    And never rotten.

It takes more than hugs and kisses
    To be a real friend.
    The nature of friendship
    Requires a blend.

The road to a happy life
    May sometimes make us stumble.
But to have a friend to give us a hand
    Teaches us to be humble.

Good friends are hard to find,
    Hard to lose,
    And impossible to forget,
    But when they fly away,
    Your anger turns to regret.

Sometimes in life we need a special person
    To listen while we talk.
A special person who will not discourage or judge
But encourage us as we walk.

    Friends are there
    To help you along.
    The journey through friendship
    Is always long.

    In life,
    There are big ships,
    And there are small ships,
But the best ship of all
    Is friendship.

  5. 24. I Want To Thank You Again

    • By Janelle J. James
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2007 with permission of the Author.

A chance encounter when you are there for someone may be enough to create a best friend bond.

    in Thank You Friend Poems

To me, you're like an angel, sent by God above,
To cleanse my soul of sadness and fill it with love.
You are my inspiration, and I want to thank you,
For without you, I don't know what I would do.
    You've changed my life around
And turned my frown upside down.
You have shown me the way
So that I will never stray.
For this I want to thank you again,
For staying close by and being a friend.
And to end this off, I just wanted to say
That if you need a friend,
I'll be there till the very end.

  7. 25. Friend

    • By Lisa Asmo
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2016 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this poem 30 years ago, and it still rings true today. A great friendship is hard to find. Let those who have made a difference in your life be aware of their impact. Each moment is a gift. Share your gifts with others, and be sure to thank others for the gifts they bring to your life.

    in Thank You Friend Poems

    You're a very special person.
I'm glad that you're my friend,
For when I need a little advice,
You always have some to lend.

You help me when I am troubled,
    Feeling down and out-
I never have to say what's wrong.
You seem to know what I'm all about.

I can always tell you my feelings
Without having you put me down.
You're the person I can turn to
When no one else is around.

I can cry on your shoulder
    When things are going wrong.
    You give me a smile
And help me to be strong.

    You seem to understand me.
After all that we've gone through,
I only have one thing to say...
    Thanks for being YOU!

A true friend is a blessing in your life. This has been written for my best friend.

    in Thank You Friend Poems

My life has not been easy.
Hard times, I've seen my share.
    Through trials and tribulations,
    you were always standing there.

You lent an ear and gave a hand
    and always seemed to understand.

At times when I was torn and weak
and could not bear the stress,
you always gave your all to me,
    never any less.

To you I'm always grateful for all that we have shared,
for standing right beside me, showing that you cared.

A promise to a friend to be there no matter what.

    in Best Friend Poems

    I'll be there
When you feel lonely and frightened,
When you need help with something,
    When you feel hopeless.

    I'll be there
When you feel betrayed by someone you trusted,
    When you feel broken-hearted,
When you are in difficult times.

    I'll be there
    When you fall,
    When you need a hug,
    When you need some love.

    I'll be there.
    No matter what happens,
    I'll be there.

We surround ourselves with the best kinds of people.

    in Best Friend Poems

The best kinds of people are warm and kind.
They are always there and they never mind.
The best kinds of people smile and embrace.
They support you with strength and grace.

The best kinds of people love and cherish.
They lift you up when you're near to perish.
The best kinds of people share your joy,
To laugh with you, to joke and enjoy.

The best kinds of people stand up tall,
No matter how hard they fall.
The best kinds of people are honest and true.
The best kind of person, my dear, is you.

  11. 29. Take My Hand And Never Let Go

    • By Gianna Nicole
    • Published by Family Friend Poems November 2010 with permission of the Author.

This person means the world to me! She's a close friend who knows all there is about me! She isn't judgmental, she isn't mean; she simply understands and is there to help everyone through everything. I wrote this poem to thank her for all she does, but this isn't even close to summing it all up! I, along with many others, look up to her highly and are grateful for her friendship!! :)
She truly is a blessing! Dedicated to: K.J.

    in Faith Poems

You took my hand and showed me the way
when I was blinded by unfortunate fate.
You took my hand and prayed with me
while my troubles quickly faded away.
You took my hand and dried my tears
when I cried over it all.
You took my hand and helped me understand
when I questioned our Almighty One.
You took my hand and made me promise
    I'd never walk alone again.
You took my hand and mended my friendship
when I was too stubborn to say anything.
You took my hand and made me laugh
when we remembered our funny mistakes.
You took my hand and made me see
that God has a special plan for me.
Now take my hand and never let go,
because our friendship means more than you'll ever know!!

The poem is my way of saying, "I wish you well and that your life will be rich and full."

    in Inspirational Friend Poems

    May your blessings be many
    and your troubles be few.
And may you feel God's presence
in all you say and do.

    May your family surround you
and give you reasons to smile.
May your friends and loved ones
go with you an extra mile.

May you know joy and gladness
and have a life of peace.
And may your load grow lighter
    and all your cares decrease.

May your sleep be ever so sweet
    as you retire each night.
And when you wake each morning,
    may your burdens feel light.

May mercy and grace follow you
    every minute of every day.
And may you feel the love of God
As you go on your way!

  15. 33. A Friend Is...

I'm a regular girl with a regular life and regular friends. Without my friends, I wouldn't be the person I am. I'm not going to say their names, but if you're reading this, you know who you are. I've read this list over and over, and not one of the conditions doesn't apply to my BFFs. They're supportive, encouraging, funny, and kind. Nothing beats having friends - true friends - and hopefully this poem will help you realize what a friend is.

    in Special Friend Poems

    A friend is a person
who has always has your back,
    a person
who has faith in you and says that you can.

    A friend is a person
who points you onward, instead of leading you askew,
    a person
who gives you hope to see the journey through.

    A friend is a person
who helps you up when you've fallen,
    a person
who cheers you up when you're sullen.

    A friend is a person
who even though all have passed,
    still cheers you on,
    even if you're in last.

    A friend is a person
    who remembers what you knew,
    a person
who stands by you and forgets every feud.

    • By Vanessa O.
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2016 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this for a friend to remind him how special he is to me.

    in True Friend Poems

If you told me to describe a true friend,
I'd describe you in a heartbeat.
If you wanted to know how unique you are,
I'd tell you no one could ever make a repeat.
If you say you needed a friend like me,
    Then I'd never say goodbye.
If someone tried to put you down,
I'd tell you how they're full of lies.
If you wondered what beauty looked like,
I'd tell you to look at your reflection.
And if you asked me what I thought I saw,
    I'd say I saw perfection.

Being a best friend means that I can be there for you even when you can't be there for me.

    in Best Friend Poems

    I thank you right now
    for being my friend.
    No strings attached, no being
    condemned.
Taking me in with little or lot.
    Unconditional: a word
    this world has forgotten.
    You hear me out
    when I need to talk.
    Hanging in there,
no matter how rough the walk.
And all the times in the past
    and those to still come.
    Bringing my spirits up
    When down they've been run.
    So if I seem distant,
    cold or not here,
    remember inside
    I'm thankful you care.

  18. 36. A Friend Like You

    • By Jessica D. Elliott
    • Published by Family Friend Poems July 2016 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this for my best friend. He's been with me through so many years, and there's no one I've ever met like him. He's done so much for me, and I wrote this for him to show how much he means to me. He's my crazy boy, and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it!

    in True Friend Poems

A friend like you is hard to find,
And that you're here still blows my mind.
You're kind and caring, funny and smart.
By just being you, you've stolen my heart.

From the first time we met,
    Until here where we stand,
    You've made my life perfect,
    You've made my life grand.

    You encourage me
    When I am down.
    You make me smile
    When I frown.

    You make me laugh
    When I want to cry.
    You make me happy
    When you don't even try.

    You love the Lord.
    'Tis rare but true.
    I'm blessed beyond measure
To have a friend like you.

    Yes, a friend like you
    Is hard to find,
    And I can't hardly believe
That you chose to be mine

  19. 37. A Philia Love

    • By Joann Foley
    • Published by Family Friend Poems October 2017 with permission of the Author.

Philia love is a love between close friends. It is a generous and affectionate love. Philia means brotherly or platonic love in Ancient Greek.

    in Best Friend Poems

You have a gentle heart and a caring soul.
You use affectionate words in order to extol.
You are a true treasure encased in my heart,
A bond so strong, it will never depart.

You easily bring out a piece of me
That proves so difficult for others to see.
You lift my spirits and fade my tears.
You give me a friendship that withstands and perseveres.

We are individuals who don’t want to do it alone,
So we use laughter and kindness as our cornerstone.
We support one another to grow separately,
While nurturing our friendship ever so tenderly.

I could not have imagined what you would mean to me
    When our friendship was new,
But now I can honestly say I’d be completely
    Lost without you.

I invite you to search my heart so you can find
A philia love for you that is pure and divine.
A gift to my heart you will always be.
My companionship is forever yours; that I guarantee.

  21. 39. Walk With Me

    • By Amy H
    • Published by Family Friend Poems April 2015 with permission of the Author.

I started writing poetry at the age of 12. It is an emotional outlet for when things go wrong.

    in True Friend Poems

    Why don't you come
    walk with me
    through life's doorways
    and heaven's eternity?

    Walk through the good
    and walk through the bad.
    Walk through the happy
    and walk through the sad.

    Take my hand;
    I'll show you the way.
    There are so many things
    we can do today.

    Whether it be happy,
    or whether it be sad,
    my friend, I'll help you

    When everyone robbed me,
