I remember the day we met.
Too young to see the danger.
I didn't know the devil you were,
That you'd fill me with so much anger.

At first you gave me comfort,
Numbed me from the pain,
But the light you gave me faded,
Brought blackness to my veins.

Your trap worked as always.
I am not the only one to fall.
So many friends forever gone now;
No one's left to call.

Dragged me to rock bottom,
Each day a life in hell anew,
Felt there was no possibility
Of breaking this dependence on you.

Every day I woke
With only you on my mind,
Desperate for your love,
More desperate for you to die.

Through time I saw you were evil.
I watched you steal my soul.
Each time I tried to get away,
You would not let me go.

Tried to scream and cry,
Eventually accepted my fate.
Everyone had tried to warn me,
And now it was too late.

Family and friends could never understand,
Couldn't hear my silent plea.
They did not want to see
The sick effect you had on me.

You locked me in a cell.
You made me freeze at night,
Made me deceive those I loved,
Made me live in constant fright.

Left broken, battered, and bruised,
My number of scars grew.
Both physical and mental,
While the number of wasted years flew.

Went through the motions like a zombie.
No longer did I see
Any type of future
In this world for me.

You erased any shred of hope
When everyone turned their backs.
Difficult to escape this dark hole and cope,
Impossible to defend against your attacks.

I knew no church, no God.
YOU, my ultimate power.
No way to know real love.
I was now a rotted, dead flower.

Then one day it happened.
Most amazing hope one moment brings,
And I decided then and there
That I would grow my wings.

No longer will you take from me
Like you have stolen all these years.
You will never take my life.
No longer will I cry these tears.

I will deal with the pain.
I will swallow all my pride.
I will deal with my life of rubble.
I'm prepared for this difficult ride.

If it kills me to leave you,
Then I will gladly die,
Because with you I'm only surviving,
And I have been destined to fly.

I will soar, laugh, and smile,
Will breathe my life once more.
I will go back to a time
Before you came knocking at my door.

I have a master of an evil kind.
He totally controls my body, soul, and mind.
At first he was fun and cool,
But soon I became his fool.

But soon I became his fool.
A victim without a chance,
He took my life in just a glance.
He's so sneaky and full of deceit.
I wonder why we ever had to meet.
Thanks to my master, I am now someone I hate.
I used to have a life, and it was somewhat great.
Now all I do is cheat, steal, and lie,
And then lie in bed praying to die.
Still I can't leave my master for any reason.
He's too strong and his control is never ceasin'.
He's the one I run to when I wake.
I can't rid him, even for my children's sake.
I used to be loving, caring, and enjoyed my life,
But that was before my master took me for his wife.
Everyone says I don't look like the type.
They can't picture me locked in my room smoking a pipe.
I once was a pretty girl from the South,
But now I am left with teeth rotting in my mouth.
My master says, "You'll never stay clean;
You love me too much to be happy and serene."
He loves that I don't even bother trying
And gravels when I am miserably crying.
I'm already dead really, just a shell.
My master gave me a life of pure hell.
Yes, I have a master of the most evil kind.
He took over and everything good was left behind.
He shows no mercy to religion, sex, or age.
He only searches for his next victim in which to engage.
I pray you never meet my master.
If your paths cross, run fast and then run faster.
Just in case, he goes by Meth, Crystal, or Ice,
And I am begging you to just take my advice.
No one should have to succumb to this Master of misery and shame.
Trust me, this is your life and not a game!
Nothing good will ever come from knowing this dark demon,
So don't ever try him, no matter how unbearable life is seemin'.
My master took me and broke my spirit.
So don't meet him, just don't hear it.

I've fought with my emotions,
I've held them deep inside.
I didn't want to face what for so long
you've tried to hide.

I've been lost within the dark
for so long I've seen no light.
Holding on to the memory
of a time when things were right.

I've looked upon your face
and seen the sadness in your eyes,
the battle of addiction
you no longer can disguise.

I've prayed to find the answers
of what I myself must do.

through the hell that I go through.

Family, friends, and loved ones they won't matter anymore,
I'll take everything you got and still want something more

I was there for you in the good times but mostly in the bad,
I've made you feel so happy but in the end you was always sad

You will lie to everyone and say that I ain't real,
but if that's the case why can't you put down that pill

I come in many forms, and shapes, and size
Then following comes denial, deceit, and lies

I will turn you from everyone that tries to take you from me

I can see it in his eyes
when he comes creeping in.

But he forgets how many times
he's put me through this hell.
The deceit is never-ending.
The betrayal. Silly lies.
How can he even sit there

He's sitting right beside me,
but he's not really home.
This drug has taken over him.

One day when I was young, I heard a knock at my door.
It sounded familiar, like I had heard it before.
I opened the door, and to my surprise,
There stood a young lady with blond hair and brown eyes.

She said, "I have the answers; are you ready to play?"
So I grabbed my money and I said okay.
There were the answers that I had always sought.
Liquids, pills, and powders, and I bought and bought.

Then one day, my friend suddenly changed.
Her face became ugly, calloused, and deranged.
She grabbed my hand and we tore through the town.
My loved ones and friends could only watch and frown.

She kept whispering something I could only guess.
It sounded like she was repeating, "Yes, Yes, Yes."

How quickly from fun to very near death.
How quickly from one beer, to smoking crystal meth.
I thought of my family, oh what a mess,
But all I heard was screaming, "Yes, Yes, Yes."

I had to find help; I was at my wits end.
I had lost my child, my family, and my friends.

I said, "God are you there? Can you help me, please?"
A sudden peace came over me and I fell to my knees.
God answered the riddle that so long I did guess.
Why my addiction kept screaming, "Yes, Yes, Yes"

It's because I kept asking night after night
It's going to be different this time, right?

I said, "God, I'm not worth it; I feel like a jerk."
He said, "Suit up and show up; it's time to go to work."

Now it's been eight months since I had my last drink.
It's given me time to remember and think.

So I am here to tell you in this little rhyme.
Life keeps getting better one day at a time.
So when you think you are going insane.

Disappointment climbs the walls inside my chest.

You've lied to me all these years,

The path I chose was short.

Most days I feel like screaming at the top of my lungs.

I really haven't known who you are for quite a while,

I really haven't known who you are for quite a while,
But I try to act tough, so I force this fake smile.

You love someone else way more than me.
Her name is Crystal Meth, and I don't think she'll ever set you free.

She's had you in her hands for about 10 years,
But all of those years are nothing compared to my fear.

Fear of you lying,
Fear of you dying,
Fear of having so much faith in you and just being left crying.

You wrote me letters from prison and promised the sky.
More than 3 years later and nothing but lies.

Nothing but heartache, pain, and misery...
I GET IT NOW; you chose her over me.

You've told me to my face that it was drugs over me.
Even that wasn't enough to make me see.

Today you will tell me that you are clean.
You give me so much hope, then tomorrow it's the same ole' dope phen.

I'm telling you now that I am through with you.
This comes from my heart and every word of it is true.

All along you had something way better,

You made me believe you were the cure for my every kind of pain.
I had you wrapped around me while I let you take control of my veins.

At this point in time I didn't know who or what you turned me into,
But you made it impossible to get through days without you.

You had control of my body now, and if I didn't choose you,
you made me feel so sick to where I was helpless, not knowing what to do.

By now I started doing the things I swore I would never do,
lying and stealing off the people who didn't mean a thing to you.

You had me convinced that throughout my life you were determined to stay,
that I did not have that option of turning and walking away.

Before you know it, everyone I loved saw this side of me that was hurting them inside.
Every time they questioned, I did what you taught me to do...lie.

I wanted to let you go and get you out of my way,
so scared to tell someone, imagining what they would say.

Don't want to be judged, it was a decision I would have to make,
but I've wasted so much time; it was a little too late.

Being put in jail was something I knew it was going to come down to,
but it made me free of relief knowing that I could not get to you.

It was a struggle but a worthwhile fight
because now I am in control and you are out of my life.

Being sober turned me into the person I've always wanted to be,
and that was the one day you were praying I would never see.

Now I am doing the good things I never imagined myself to do,
and proudly I can say I am doing them without you.

I'm all alone and feel I'm smothering.
It's because of the addiction I've been covering.
Why does the chaos never cease?
All I need is just a little peace!

I feel so beaten down and weak-
Yet all day long it's drugs I seek.

Today I'll try a brand new scene.
It's to my Heavenly Father I'll lean.
I prayed so hard with all my heart.
I heard Him say, "You'll have a fresh start."
For now I'm held in His hand.
Life is a lot easier to understand.
I'm not alone and no longer smothering.

You're no longer a real person, more like a puppet on a string.
Every single move you make is controlled by methamphetamine.

I just can't seem to help you, can't break you away.
I've tried to cut the strings so you could walk away.
But without this attachment, your so-called support,
Your body goes limp and collapses to the floor.
I can't lift you up, you fall right back down.
Your body is like dead weight on the ground.
I wish I could pull you to safety so you could be free.
It's so hard to watch you be a puppet on a string.

I'm figuring out that I can't do this anymore.
You have to let me go, I need to walk out the door.
I've been in entrapment, under lock and key
With your love that's pushed me to insanity.
Step aside, you must let me through.
My heart's taken enough abuse.
You have become someone I don't want to know.
There's no other choice; I really have to go.

For the rest of my life, cursed with this disease.
For all those who suffer, we just got to believe.
Believing in yourself is the hardest thing to do,
so take a look in the mirror and ask do you see you?

Believing in yourself is the hardest thing to do,
so take a look in the mirror and ask do you see you?
Every day and every night we hurt,
wishing we were taken care of by a nurse.
This morning I woke up, fell out of my bed.
Wish I had some pills for the pain in my head.
What ya'll don't know is what ya'll don't see...
the disease trying to take control makes me want to bleed.
Past memories, shooting up all these cravings.
I don't want to use, I pray, I'm begging.
Please strengthen me, for every day is a new day,
but where's my strength, when all I do is lay.
No energy, no effort to be who I want to be.
The life of an addict, can't you see?
This battle has been won.
The war, my friend, will forever go on.
So now what are you going to do?
Hold my head up high and try not to get the blues!
No more smoking powder out of that pipe.
I'm in the fight for my life.
I've come a long way, so you don't got to judge.
When standing next to me, don't give me that nudge.
If you really want to know, I will tell
my journal, turned into a book; it might sell.
My dreams are now back in sight

I have a love for meth that no one can understand.
And nothing in this world can make me feel the way she can.
Since the first time I met her I knew she was the one.
Never questioning or judging me despite the things I've done.

I have a love for meth that no one can understand.
And nothing in this world can make me feel the way she can.
Since the first time I met her I knew she was the one.
Never questioning or judging me despite the things I've done.
No matter what I'm going through, I know she's always there.
Like two peas in a pod, I think we make the perfect pair.
When I'm with her, I'm invincible, having not the slightest fear.
She fills my head with lies, so my problems seem to disappear.
And sometimes she leaves me lonely, so much I've wished for death.
And fills me with diabolical voices who scream madness in my head.
But like I said before and repeat but once again,
No one understands unless they've been through where I've been.
On the brink of insanity filled with anger, rage, and hate.
On the path of a dead man or another prison inmate.
But be that as it may, either prison life or death,
Nothing will ever break this bond of love for my darling Crystal Meth.
And as she slowly takes my life, I bid farewell goodbye.
But you can bet your bottom dollar on my deathbed I'll be HIGH!
