My husband and I were having our 1st grandchild, and it was a boy! We received devastating news that he had a rare disease and all of his internal organs were going to be on the outside of his body. The doctor informed us that he would only live a few minutes. We buried our precious angel in Feb of 2018. We were all heartbroken to see our daughter have to go through such heartache. I wrote this for our grandson to be read at his funeral. Silas Michael Speck, until we meet again one day!

Playing peek-a-boo with you, our hearts would surely melt.
For this is not goodbye; God has promised this to me.
You will always be our baby, and in our hearts you'll always be.

For our sweet baby boy, today you've gained your wings.
As we hand you back to God, we can hear those angels sing.
Heaven will be waiting for you, and until that day you greet us,
Our baby you'll always be; letting go unto the arms of Jesus.

I am a mom of four handsome boys. When people ask if I was "trying for that girl," I get so mad because they have no idea. You don't have a baby because you want one; you are given a baby because the big man upstairs says so. Things happen for a reason, what reason? We will never know. I don't have a good story to share. My sister lost a baby boy 8 years ago in the 2nd trimester & I have had too many friends lose or miscarry their angel babies.

This poem is about recurrent miscarriages. I have lost two pregnancies (babies) in the first trimester. One at 6 1/2 weeks in January 2007 and the most recent one at 9 1/2 weeks on June 29, 2010. I hope my poem can give grieving mothers like myself an insight on healing and know that we are not alone. This heartache we have never goes away, but only time can ease our pain.

This past fall I had a miscarriage. While I try every day to find reason or to justify it being for the best, I can't seem to find closure. I've set my life in a tail spin trying to get pregnant again, thinking that will fill the hole I can't seem to fill otherwise. After you have a miscarriage, you find out it's super common, but no one wants to talk about it. They might ask how you are, but no one wants the real answer. So I put some of those feelings into this poem.

I found out on my husband's birthday that our 11 week old little bean had passed away. I went in for my routine doctor appointment and ultrasound. The baby measured perfectly to its gestational age but no longer had a heartbeat. Not only was it my husband's birthday but he was deployed to Afghanistan and all he had asked for was me to email him a picture of the ultrasound.

I have never really been able to express my feelings very well. In fact, I am usually as closed off to the world about my feelings as a giant rock. However, since my daughter died, I can't stop writing these poems, and I want to share with the world the love I have for my beautiful baby girl.

The story behind my poem is the story of my own loss and sadness as a mother losing her child and also about how through this pain I gained wisdom and inner strength. My little baby was a very special gift to my life.
