Losing your sight on truthful words,
Forgetting what is real.

And you're scared that someone might see.
Hoping no one saw your face,

You feel when your body shakes,

Just how could I believe

I thought, perhaps, I should explain
Just why I have no doubt
That it was God's creativeness
That brought this world about.

I only have to look around
To know that He is there.
I see and feel and hear Him.
That's why I'm so aware.

I see Him in the raindrops
That nourish trees and flowers.
I see Him in the rainbows
That sometimes follow showers.

I see Him in a mother's love
When looking at her child.
So thankful that this miracle
Is pure and undefiled.

I see Him in the wrinkled face
That's seen so many years,
Knowing it was faith in Him

I hear Him when a meadowlark
Trills out its joyful song.
I hear Him when the thunder

I see the beauty of Him

The feathers of the peacock
Are the colors He can bring.

I feel Him when a playful breeze

How it stretches far and wide,

A fingerprint of the Creator,

It assures me of His blessings,

Tear drops drip slowly

I heard a soft sound, like wind through the trees,
But there was no wind, for the air was still,
And the forest stood waiting, silent and strong,
Trees standing guard as they always will.

The voice kept calling me, calling my name
As I walked in peace through the still, cool green,
Wandering, wandering, into the deep
Where the silent deer walk, and the path is unseen.

Birds all above, singing their songs,
The rustle of leaves underneath every step,
And the sweet smell of pine, sweet perfume to me,
In the forest so deep, so purely kept.

"Who are you?" I asked, "Why call me?" I said,
But the voice said only, "Come closer, my child."
"I would speak with you, come," was the only reply,
Yet the peace grew stronger, there deep in the wild.

And at last, I stopped, for the voice then said,
"I am here, cease wandering," and I lifted my eyes
To a small, quiet clearing, where a fallen tree lay.
"Sit down," the voice said, in voice ancient and wise.

Many things we spoke of, the voice and I.
All the things my heart found too heavy for words
The voice and I spoke for hours, it seemed,
But the only sound made was the song of the birds.

"I understand, child. Let me take that from you.
You've carried it now for many a year."
And I felt the love like a blanket wrapped 'round,
And I felt myself, like a child, held dear.

"But, I am to blame, I have done all these things!"
"I know," said the voice, "but that means nothing now."
Then the love and the peace grew yet warmer still,
For the very life of me, I could never say how.

"Go in peace," said the voice, "you have miles to go."
As I smiled and turned to walk the green sod,
"I love you, my child." "I love you, too," I said.
The forest...my church...the voice...my God

Overcoming Fear To Soar To New Heights

in Faith Poems

On the ground sits a bird
That's too afraid to fly.
Beautiful wings could make it soar,
But the pain of past failure is its lonesome cry.

On the ground sits a bird
That's too afraid to fly.
Beautiful wings could make it soar,
But the pain of past failure is its lonesome cry.

God has said unto this bird,
"Trust and have faith in me,
for I will carry you in your flight.
The miracle of life is waiting for you to see."

The bird said to God, "But I can't fly.
I am weak. I will fall and feel pain.
It's happened before when I tried to fly.
I'm afraid of being hurt again."

His voice soft and reassuring, God said to the bird,
"I created you, and I will protect you.
Your lonesome cry I have heard.
Have faith in me. That's all you need to do.

So, stand up, bird, and spread your wings.
The wings I lovingly created to let you fly.
If you fall I'll pick you up,
And lift you back into the sky."

With trembling legs and unsure wings,
The bird finally looked to the sky.
It took a deep breath and took the chance.
The bird began to fly.

"Thank you, God, for believing in me.
Thank you for giving me wings.
Thank you for your protecting hands.
Your glory I will now sing."

God smiled unto the bird
In its majestic flight.
"Little bird, I'll always be with you,
And will protect you with all my might.

You may stumble. You may fall.
That doesn't mean that I don't care.
I will watch over you in case you need help,
And then I'll be right there."

The little bird, once so scared,
Learned to soar to new heights.
The occasional fall no longer scared the bird,
Choosing to have faith in God's flight.
