Keeping Streets Clean From Dog Waste

I took a walk in the city today
to try to pass the time away.
Saw lots of people walking too.
Stepped right in a pile of doggy doo.

Stepped right in a pile of doggy doo.
I thought for a moment just what could be done
to clean up the streets of doggie dung.
Maybe I'll invent something really super,
even finer than a pooper scooper.
A port a potty for our four legged friends
on every street corner where every road bends.
Then I'll become famous for this awesome invention.
At the monthly town meetings my name will be mentioned.
They'll throw a big party and dance in the streets
because never again will there be poop on our feet!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye there is much to do,
But the reindeer up north have caught the flu!

The presents are wrapped, the sleigh is all set,

Hear Ye, Hear Ye there is much to do,
But the reindeer up north have caught the flu!

The presents are wrapped, the sleigh is all set,
So instead of reindeer, we're using your pets.

Just show them this note on Christmas Eve,
So when the time comes, they'll be ready to leave.

We'll take dogs, we'll take snakes, we'll take hamsters and cats.
We'll take frogs, we'll take lizards, we'll even take bats!

We'll pretty much take whatever you've got.
For Santa's sleigh, we'll need a lot.

Your pet should leave when you're asleep,
So don't make a sound or a peep.

When your pet comes to fly the sleigh,
I'll make them fly, I'll show them the way.

We'll soar through the night up high in the sky.
Looking down at the houses as we fly on by.

Oh, and thank you for helping Santa Claus.

In empty shopping bags,
And cartons made of cardboard,
On piles of books and newspapers,
And suitcases that are stored.
Curled up under furniture,
In places we’d never think to look.
Or nestled behind a flower pot,
In a hard to find nook.
Since my cat sleeps for at least sixteen hours each day
He must be bored of sleeping in the same old way!

And total up your score.

You can count them on your fingers,
You can count them on your toes,
You can count them out with counters,
You can count them out in rows.

And when you’ve got the answer,
When you’re sure, and only then –
You can add another hundred
And count them all again!

Can I catch a poem in the sand on a beach?
Or hiding in fields of long, green grass?
Can I catch a poem among the waves in the sea?
I’m not sure where I can catch a poem, alas!

Will I be able to catch a poem with a loop of rope?
Can I use the rope to lasso, and bind the poem up tight?
Will I be able to catch a poem with a butterfly net?
Will the net stop the poem from slipping out of sight?

Can I catch a poem when I’m playing outdoors?
Or can I catch a poem from right under my bed?
Oh gosh! As I thought about where I could catch a poem;
I actually caught one – it was right inside my head!!

Mrs. Blossom was a witch,
we're pretty sure of that,
though she didn't have a broomstick,
wear a cloak, or pointed hat.

She brewed some strange concoctions
in her kitchen on her stove.
You could smell the deep aroma
from her house in Penny Grove.

Strange plants grew in her garden.
What they were, we never knew,
but they seemed to cure most anything,
from a little scratch to the flu.

We often used to call there,
under protest, I might say,
to deliver her some groceries.
Then we'd try to run away!

She'd thank us for our trouble
and would offer us some tea,
but she scared us when she spoke
from where her teeth once used to be!

We never saw a book of spells,
and she didn't have a cat,
but Mrs. Blossom was a witch.
We're pretty sure of that!
