From a girl to her mother, a lovely tribute to a lovely mother.
To my mother who raised me and was there when I needed her.
    I love you!

    Analysis of Form and Technique

The one who brought me down to earth
    And held me every day.
The one who gracefully gave me birth
And said, I love you in every way.

Very good usage of words. Rhyming pattern is good and the structure rocks. One of the best I've read so far. Keep on writing more!

  2. Life Is Fine

    Famous Poem

In this poem, the speaker is considering giving up on life, but he can’t go through with it. He finds that since he hasn’t died, he has something to live for. This poem has a strong sense of structure. It’s made up of single lines and quatrains with the ABCB rhyme scheme.

    in Famous Poems

I went down to the river,
I set down on the bank.
I tried to think but couldn't,
So I jumped in and sank.

  4. Clear Vision

    • By Anne M. Snell
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2018 with permission of the Author.

My poem is about how I see myself. I see myself as broken, unlovable, and too far gone. But that's not who I really am. This poem is written from the perspective of someone who knows all of my issues. Who know all that I've done but doesn't care. He still loves me anyway. This is how I want to see myself. If you're out there and are hurting today, please know there is someone who loves you. Your story's far from over. You are beautiful, no matter what you've done.

    She longs to be pretty,
Because all she sees are her flaws.
She doesn't see that those "flaws"
    Are really her perfection.

This, to me, describes something similar that my friends said/wrote about me. It shocked me at the time how much they cared about me. I felt unlovable after me and my mom started fighting...

  5. Just Like A Child

When I look at little kids, I remember what the Lord Jesus said about them. There are so many lessons to learn from a little child.

    in Faith Poems

    How I wish to trust
    In life, no questions asked,
    Hanging on God's words,

This poem is about an abusive relationship I was in for 8 months. This poem represents the pain and the confusion I went through and the pain that came with it. In the end, I finally had to let go.

    in Abuse Poems by Teens

Your words to me are weakness.
They slay me to the ground.
Sometimes you make me feel lost,
Though I'm wishing I were found.

  8. Love And Hate

    • By Debra D. Hines
    • Published by Family Friend Poems August 2019 with permission of the Author.

This poem is a way to show my daughter the way you can show love and the way you can send hate packing. For me, I have a hard time shutting my brain down. I overthink, so writing poems helps me stop overthinking. I never really thought about sharing them. This poem I wrote in the late 80s or early 90s.

    in Meaningful Poems

    If Love is a dream,
    then I shall always dream.
    If Love is an earthquake,
    then let it shake me.

  10. An Ol' Cowboy

    • By Lovie M. Haskell
    • Published by Family Friend Poems May 2018 with permission of the Author.

I have lived your average life being married, having two children, being divorced, and giving up on love. Then one day, I met an ol' cowboy, and my life will never be the same. I always heard people say, "Being a cowboy is a way of life!" However, it wasn't until meeting a real cowboy, listening to his stories, watching him live his life by a different set of morals than the rest of the world and falling in love, that I understood. One month from today I will become his wife. He is my inspiration.

    in Husband Poems

    His boots may be dusty
    From sitting by the door,
    And his saddle a little weathered;
    It doesn't get oiled anymore.

  12. Birthdays In Heaven

    • By Elaine P. Keefe
    • Published by Family Friend Poems September 2018 with permission of the Author.

My nephew and his wife lost their adult daughter to mesothelioma two years ago. She left behind a husband and two small children. She had been ill for a few years. Her mother was having a hard time on her daughter's birthday, so I wrote this poem for her. I never thought to submit it till now, but I thought others might be able to use it. Having lost a child myself many years ago, I know the heartbreak and the sense of loss that never goes away.

    in Spiritual Poems about Death

There are no birthdays in heaven,
For time has no meaning there.
Today is the future as well as the past.
A day is the same as a year.
