  1. Sunshine Of You That I Saved

    • By Veronica Lafay Jackson
    • Published by Family Friend Poems April 12, 2023 with permission of the Author.

    I loved my Aunt Mabel so much. She called me every day after my stepdad died suddenly in 2011. She was a very poised and polished woman. She dressed exquisitely and was beautiful inside and out! She eased a lot of the anxiety of missing my stepdad. She was very encouraging and inspiring. I miss her dearly and will continue to love and cherish her memory forever! May she rest in peace!

    in Aunt Death Poems

    I thank you for the kind words and for being that beautiful you,
    For listening to my side regardless of whatever you had to do.
    Thank you for the gifts of love and for going out of your way.
    Thanks for that great "just us girls" day.

  2. Thanksgiving

    Famous Poem

    When children grow up and move away, it’s always special when they come back together for the holidays. It’s a chance for them to reminisce on days gone by and reconnect with each other. In this poem, though some family members moved into the city, when they come home, they are able to be who they truly are. This is seen with the use of dialect. Edgar Guest (1881-1959) wrote many poems that reflected the typical American in the first half of the 20th century.

    in Famous Holiday Poems

    Gettin’ together to smile an’ rejoice,
    An’ eatin’ an’ laughin’ with folks of your choice;
    An’ kissin’ the girls an’ declarin’ that they
    Are growin’ more beautiful day after day;

    • By D Lancaster
    • Published by Family Friend Poems March 2015 with permission of the Author.

    This is a story of young, unrequited love that finds its way. I loved her from the 1st day. Sadly, the love was not returned. We stayed friends for years, but lost contact. When we found each other again, her feelings mirrored mine, as I always wished they would. We are now happily in love, and have been for a number of years.

    The day that our love would find its way.
    From my heart and into your soul,
