Birthday Poems For Family - Page 2

  1. 21. The Tongue-Tied Lover

    • By William Brook
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019

This poem is the tale of a tongue-tied lover who cannot find the words he seeks to convey his love to the object of his affection, until Cupid intervenes...

    in Birthday Poems

I ask the heav'nly stars above
how I might send thee words of love -
for my impov'rished words won't do
when sending words of love to you.

A birthday shortly comes your way,
    and I'm in complete disarray
whilst seeking clever words to say
on what will be your special day.

Hark! Cupid counsels - "Do not fret,
I'll make a poet of you yet,
and whilst you'll never be a bard,
go buy your love a birthday card."

"Pen words directly from your heart
writ with Cupid's finest dart -
there's one more thing that you must do -
ensure your words of love are true."

Now, I took Cupid at his word.
To my delight, my words were heard
I never penned a poem more fair
these words of love I wrote for her.

That special birthday's come and gone.
Soon you and I will be as one.
One final vow I make in rhyme.
I'll cherish thee till the end of time.

  2. 22. Happy Birthday, Son

My son's dad died when my son was just 5 years old. Birthdays are just one of many occasions that he really misses having his dad around.

    in Birthday Poems

    Though you cannot see me,
Just know that I am near,
    Singing happy birthday
    Softly in your ear.

    I am always with you.
    I'm never far away.
I would never miss the chance
    To celebrate your 19th birthday.

    Fourteen birthdays have passed
    Since the day I died,
    But for each one
I've been right by your side.

I've helped you blow out candles
And heard the wishes that you make.
I've seen you open up each gift
And watched you eat your birthday cake.

I've watched you grow into a man
As the years have passed by, son.
And I am so proud of you
For all that you have done.

    You deserve the very best.
May all your dreams come true.
    I'm leaving my eternal love
As my birthday gift to you.

    Happy birthday, Son
    Love, Dad

  4. 23. Let Happy Soar And Birthday Fly

    • By John F. Rathbone
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019

A Happy Birthday poem for anyone with a love for life. Willing to let all inhibitions fly away and dance in the limelight they deserve. I wrote this poem for my wife.

    in Birthday Poems

    Birthday girl, birthday girl,
Let's seize the day, dance and twirl

Jump up high and touch the sky
Let laughter soar and silliness fly

Stomp atop tables, leap and fling
Blare out your favourites and with them sing

Shout songs out loud on your special day
Rejoicing with wishes from near and far away

Skip to the beat of love flowing to you
Candles blowing memories a whole life through

Grab the time now, hug, kiss, squeeze, charge to celebrate
Thank you for sharing this day, for it's you that makes it great

  5. 24. Missed Birthday

I once missed my cousin Julie's birthday. It wasn't until the last minute I remembered, but the only card I had didn't have a verse, so I had to write my own. She loved it.

    in Birthday Poems

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday.
    A special day, I know it's true.
But birthdays are only here one day,
And I love you the whole year through.

Birthday cards are only pieces of paper,
Verses written by someone we never knew.
How could they ever truly explain
All the feelings I have for you?

So I've bought a card without any verse
As I wanted to write one of my own
To let you know what you really mean to me
And not words from someone unknown.

Yes, birthday cards are just pieces of paper
That we read then just put away,
But my love for you is forever,
And forever means now and always.

  7. 25. Our Precious Daughter

Happy birthday wishes from Mom and Dad to 6 year old daughter.

    in Birthday Poems

We celebrate your birthday, as you turn six today,
but we have got the gift, just the perfect gift,
that on this very special day, God gave away,
a gift of love from up above, so unique and so rare

God has specially made you to the very tip of your nose,
as precious as a flower, as tender as a rose.
Fulfilled and blessed our lives we have and all because of you,
as sweet as honey, so innocent and pure

The twinkle of your eyes is brighter than any star,
the smiles you leave behind keep our days bright,
though our laps you have outgrown,
you will never outgrow our hearts

We watch and pray as you grow,
in love and in faith, in beauty and in grace,
you bring us joy and pure delight,
just to gaze upon your lovely face

Our hearts you keep warm and are with you wherever you may go,
and as you go on life's journey, only happiness may you find,
you are the joyful moments through our sorrow,
you are our hope and promise of our tomorrow

'cause you are our pride, our unconditional love we pledge,
'cause you are our joy, our undivided bond we cherish,
'cause you are our sunshine, our embrace is your shield through the rain,
'cause you are our little girl, our hugs and kissed will take away your pain

We asked God for a flower and He gave us a bouquet
we asked God for a minute and He gave us a day
we prayed to God for true love and He gave us that too
we prayed to God for an angel and He gave us you

May God bless you dear angel
especially on this day, that marks your birth,
for all the special ways you bring
a bit of heaven into our world

May God bless you today, tomorrow, and always
in peace in health in happiness and in love

    With love,
    Mum and Dad

  8. 26. Pillar Of A Man

I wrote this poem for my father and read it to him at his birthday dinner in front of everyone. He was very proud as I'm of him.

    in Birthday Poems

    Work hard yet be humble,
    share all that you have,
may be the most important of many lessons
that I have learned from my dad.

    Protect and honor your family,
    no matter what the cost.
    A battle for your family
is a battle that can't be lost.

Take a stand for things that matter,
and always keep your head held up high.
Embrace those things close to your heart,
and yes, sometimes men do cry.

These lessons in life can not be taught,
    they must be observed.
Happy birthday, Dad; you have taught me a lot,
and I love you for what I have learned.

  9. 27. Daddy's Little Girl On Her 18th Birthday

    • By Angie Provost
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2010

Our only daughter is turning 18 and will soon be leaving us for the big, bad world. She is our youngest and as such leaves us happy to have raised such an amazing daughter but sad to know our house will soon be empty. She is SUCH a Daddy's girl but in the best sense of the word. She is just like her father who is the best man I know. This poem is a tribute to both of them on her 18th birthday.

    in Birthday Poems

    Once pigtails and stuffed animals
    Daddy's little girl.
Now cell phones and first cars
our minds in such a whirl.

    Our daughter's grown up
    turning 18 today.
    So strong and so beautiful
trying to find your own way.

    Life is just beginning
the world is yours to take.
We hope we've taught you well
and you've learned from our mistakes.

We've loved you and protected you
now it's time to let you fly.
Though a woman stands before us
forever Daddy's girl in our eyes!

  10. 28. 21 Years Today

    • By Lauramay
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2010

I'm thirteen and it's my sister's 21st birthday soon. I am sending her 21 birthday cards, and I want to put a poem in them.

    in Birthday Poems

For thirteen years my sister you've been,
and I'm quite sure you've not always been keen
on me ruining your stuff and copying your style,
but you always forgot that after a while.

The love we share goes unprepared,
    because it comes so naturally.
You see, the love we have is close,
    it's like our own melody.

I don't know how to say it,
but believe me that it's true.
There's no sister in the world
that could ever compare to you.

So I'm wishing you a happy birthday,
    one only I can say.
I say this from the heart,
    have the greatest 21st birthday.

I love you Emma, happy birthday x

  11. 29. My Sister!

    • By Jenn
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems May 2008

I know this isn't a rhyming poem. I love my sister, and I hope she has a great birthday.
    To my sister, my friend

    in Birthday Poems

    Britney, what can I say,
    You are the best sister
    I could've ever asked for

We went through a lot when we were younger,
But you helped me through it!
    You made me stronger.
I am thankful for that every day
So thank you for always being there for me.

So on this special day of yours
I wanted to tell you how much I love you,
    I really do!
I know I don't say it often, but it's true.
    I love you!

I know we fight a lot
    But we are sisters.
    (we always forgive each other)!
It's not the fact that we are "blood"
But the love I have for you tells me that we will be friends forever!

I hope you have a great day
    You have my wishes.

  13. 31. Little Boys

    • By Anuradha Dev
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2014

I am a 35-year-old woman. I have a daughter and a son. Daughter being the first one holds a very special place in my heart but as my son is growing older (he was 5 this October), I am starting appreciate small adorable things boys do that I would have missed if my son would not have come in my life. I am from India. In India a male child is given much more importance than a female child. I always hated this fact. I never wanted a male child. But after my son I have changed. This is for him. Happy birthday, Adi!

    in Birthday Poems

    Little boys
    Everyone said boys are difficult.
    They are alien creatures,
    Difficult to manage
    And impossible to understand.
    Well, I agree.
    They are like a ball,
    Can't stay still.
They give you mini heart attacks
Each time they go out and get hurt.
    They are naughty,
    They are noisy,
    They are wild!
    But nobody told me
    How I would feel
    When this bundle of energy
    Would come running
And smother me with their force.
    Or when this stubborn creature
    Sneaks up from behind,
Kisses you and runs away laughing.
Or when he would say innocently,
    "Mumma, when I grow up
    I'll marry you!"
    Little boys are like rain,
Rain that soaks you up with
    Their unconditional love.
    Yes, they are difficult!
    But isn't it worth it
    When they cuddle with you
    And go to sleep,
    Making you feel like the
Most important person in their lives?
    They say boys are yours
    Until they get married.
Having them for a quarter of a century,
Isn't it better than not having that love at all?
To my bundle of joy and energy
    Happy birthday!

  14. 32. Happy Birthday, Son

    • By Anitha Devi Pillai
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems January 2019

I wrote this for my son on his birthday. He was only eight then, and I don't know if he understood the depth of my poem. But he reached out to hug me and said, "Nice." I forgot about the poem after that. He turned 15 last year, and when we were talking about birthday gifts one day, he shared that his most memorable birthday gift was the poem I had written for him when he was little. Thankfully I was able to find the card that I had given him. I hope the soul of my poem resonates with you.

    in Birthday Poems

From the moment I looked into your eyes,
I knew that I was never going to be the same again.
You held my gaze, not once looking away
as you reached out to grip my finger.

I knew then that I would never let you go.
I have fallen in and out of love many times,
but I could never fall out of love with you.

You, my dear, were part of me before
I knew you by your name.

  15. 33. Birthday Wishes To An Introverted Wife

    • By Shishir
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015

This poem was written as a birthday gift to my introverted wife who seldom conveys her desires to me. She was extremely happy after reading this.

    in Birthday Poems

Joy of one's own birthday gets multiplied
If your true love always stands by your side
When you reminded me of the day today
I could hear those words that you never say
Birthdays are celebrated to make one feel great
Please tell me your wish on this day, and don't hesitate
I'll try my best to fulfill your desire
If it is not me, then from whom will you aspire
I know you want to feel that you are cared for
And this gesture in life will give you happiness galore
Memories of birthdays help keep our hearts always young
The song of this life can thus be joyfully sung.

  16. 34. Happy Birthday Baby Girl, Love Daddy

    • By Leah Miller
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2011

Birthday poem from a father to his 4-year-old daughter

    in Birthday Poems

Just when he thought he had it all
His wife, his sons, his perfect world

Then he met his baby girl

Her mother's eyes and daddy's smile
A light within the sun would rival

Today she's four, it's gone too fast
How can I stop the clocks and make this last?

How can such a small voice capture my soul
and every small scratch take such a toll?

She's raised the stakes, her brothers and I are on high alert
praying she'll never learn how to flirt

And if she does, it will change my whole world
Trying to keep her MY baby girl

Happy Birthday Baby Girl, Love Daddy

  17. 35. My Beautiful Sister

    • By Sinead
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2010

I wrote this poem for my sister's eighteenth birthday. I felt the need to express how I feel about the relationships we have shared over time. Like most sisters we've fought a lot, had regular disagreements, but we've always overcome them. You can pick and choose your friends but not your family. I wanted to show her that no matter what has happened in the past, I will always look up to her. She's amazing.

    in Birthday Poems

    My big sister.
    Eighteen already,
I remember times when she could only sleep with a teddy.
    It doesn't seem real.
    I wonder how she feels.

Is she happy, is she sad.
Things that she's done, have they made her mad?
Does she regret things in the past?
Does she think she's grown up too fast?

If I were her, I'd have not one regret,
She's an amazing person, people couldn't forget.
We're all very proud, especially with what she's done.
Coping with her education as well as having fun.

We're also proud of what she has achieved.
We always knew she would succeed.
She's an amazing person; for that I guarantee
She's the person she wants to be.

Growing up was hard; we fought for so long.
Now I'm proud to say our bond is fairly strong.
We wasted so much time when we could have spent it together,
But it can't be changed; we're sisters forever.

Friendship and loyalty is the key,
    It's something we retain
Something over years, I've managed to gain.

I look up to her, if only she knew
But she's stupid; she doesn't have a clue
I need her - she guides me the right way
I've never thanked her; I didn't know what to say.

We've shared secrets, many Mum won't find out,
Because you're my sister I have no doubt.
So whether we are together or we are far apart.
Jade, you're my sister, my best friend, and forever in my heart.

    Happy Birthday!
    I LOVE YOU

    • By Janel M. Perez
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems July 2006

Enjoy your day for it only comes once a year.

    in Birthday Poems

    Dance among the ribbons
    of the birthday balloons.
    Smile through the lit candles
and sing to the classic happy tune.
    Eat the cake of wishes,
frosted with sweet dreams of parties to come.
Blindly swing at the flying unicorn,
    sending treasures across the lawn.
Spin among the music and laughter
in your perfect party dress that's brand new.
And till next year my darling,
    happy birthday to you.

    in Birthday Poems

    Happy Birthday, Grandma
    It's your special day
You show us how you love us
    In so many ways

You make us feel like stars
    You're our biggest fan
You cheer and clap the loudest
When we do the best we can

    You're always up for fun
And ready for us to laugh
Crazy games of dominoes and spoons
Are always a good time with Grandma

You make us feel special with lots of hugs and treats
Like we're the most important in the world
    We think you're very sweet.

  20. 38. Happy Birthday Sarah

    • By Ben Gill
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems June 2014

I wrote this for my sister's 21st birthday. She is my best friend, and I can tell her anything. She won't judge me, but she isn't afraid to tell me when I am in the wrong. She helped my mum to bring me up, and I love her very much. I do tease her a lot, but I know she loves me anyway. She is at university and works part time but still finds time to be there for me. I love her to bits.

    in Birthday Poems

The 14th is a special day
    And just like this day,
You are special in your own way.
You being fabulous is not a lie
    So Sarah, this is why,
    You are great
    You're my best mate
    You're caring and fun
    And my love for you
    It weighs a ton!
This birthday is a special day
Because drinking and partying is now your way.
    This birthday is your time,
So get out the beer and wine.
There are many opportunities waiting for you,
So don't worry if you miss a few.
So as your brother I can say,
    Good luck and Happy Birthday!!

  21. 39. To My Little Brother

This is a little poem written for my little brother. He is a sweet little thing and loves to have fun. It is really cute to see him standing up for me, his big sister, against people twice his size and age. It is fun to listen to him talk incessantly about the books he reads. Then there are the nice moments where he snuggles up with me. Mostly, it is fun to watch him grow and mature.

    in Birthday Poems

    A year has passed away,
    Never to be back.
    I hope this little greeting
    Suffices as a plaque.

    You've passed another summer,
    Spring, winter, fall.
    You've created memories,
A joy and smile to recall.

You're growing into a sturdy soul.
    Your little goofs, smiles,
    Your struggles, accomplishments,
    And your mischievous wiles.

    Your funny personality
    Grows along with you.
    You're a wonderful little brother,
And, yes, a little goof too.

I know you like to pretend
    You're a little brat sometimes
    When you come up
    And strangle me from behind.

I know you love to shoot
Those Nerf bullets at my back,
But I also know you like to snuggle
    When you're done your attack.

    I appreciate these little things
That make you who you are.
You keep me on my toes
But you're a wonderful little brother.

    So, in the years passed
    And years still yet ahead,
    I hope you grow strong
    While towards manhood you tread.

    I can see you shaping
    Into a special little guy,
    So keep your smile
While these days pass on the sly.

    A happy birthday to you,
    My special little bro.
    In this coming year
I will happily watch you grow.
